The door bell dinged just as Serena was bringing out the pie from the oven. There were two boxes of pizza on the table and the fridge had been stock full with drinks. She checked her reflection in the living room mirror and fixed her hair. Then she ran to the door and threw it open. "Surprise! Happy Birthday!" Her two best friends, Anderson and Tabitha, screamed in excitement. Behind them was Olivia, Jericho, Jordan, Samantha, Natasha and Jayden. "Thanks so much, you guys." Serena laughed, throwing her arms around them. "You're the best." "Happy birthday, bestie." Tabitha hugged her tighter before pulling back. "Finally eighteen." "I know, right." Serena grinned. "Will you be okay by yourself?" Jayden asked as he was about to leave. "I could stay if you want. My mom would understand." Dusk had settled and he didn't want to leave her. Serena drew him close and hugged him. "I'll be fine, Jayden. I just need to tidy up some things. Tell Anderson and the others that I'm sorry I couldn't make it to the beach with them." "They'll understand." Jayden assured her. He leaned down and kissed her, then slowly released her. "I'll text you later." She smiled and nodded. After he left, she shut the door and leaned on it. It was going to be difficult arranging her parents' room. She still didn't understand why they would keep a secret like that from her. Tears filled her eyes again when she realized they were gone forever. Just then, the door bell dinged. Thinking it was Jayden who couldn't bear to stay away from her, she opened the door with a smile. Her smile vanished instantly when she came face to face with the three figures standing before her.

Xavier's eyelids twitched violently as he tried to jerk himself awake. It was happening again. If he didn't wake up soon, he wouldn't be able to control his powers from unleashing. He knew he was having the dreams again and the outcome was never good. He wasn't in control of his body and he was sweating profusely. A blinding white light suddenly shot out of his hands in a terrifying wave. It shattered the windows and mirrors in his room and glass pieces flew around the room. The curtains were torn to shreds, and a massive crack appeared in the walls. The white light glowed brighter, consuming everything in the room until Xavier suddenly jerked awake. His eyes were as bright as the moon. In the blink of an eye, the white glow disappeared and his eyes returned to their normal silvery colour. It was morning already. Somewhere deep down within the mountains, in a secluded part of the forest, three figures in black robes stood around a temple made of hard earth. A sign was etched into the earth and other signs were carved around it. There was a large blue crystal in the middle of the temple and it pulsed with energy. One of the hooded figures, a woman, retrieved a knife from her robe and slit her palm. Black blood poured out and sizzled as it dropped on the earth. Almost instantly, the wound healed up. The three figures started chanting a strange spell and blue smoke billowed out from the crystal. The smoke swirled and images could be seen on it. There was a girl with purple hair and silver eyes, and then it changed to another scene where a massive beast prowled around aggressively. It was a lycan. The scene changed again to another where a bright beam of light emanated from the purple haired girl. Her eyes were glowing brightly, and she was staring straight at the hooded figures. S

Serena sat in absolute silence after Logan finished his tale. She was shocked beyond words. She couldn't believe the pain her parents went through just to keep her safe. She looked into his eyes and knew instantly that he was telling the truth. She thought of her mother, imagining how the poor woman felt when she woke up and found her daughter gone.
