Chapter 4:The Michaelson's

"Will you be okay by yourself?" Jayden asked in a worried tone. "I could stay if you want, my mom would understand". It was evening time and he didn't want to leave her side. Serena drew him close and hugged him,"I'll be fine Jay. I just need to tidy up some things. Tell Anderson and the squad that I'm sorry I couldn't make it to the beach with them".

"They'll understand",Jayden said. He squeezed her softly before releasing her. "I'll text you later",he said. Serena nodded and watched him leave. She shut the door and leaned on it. It was going to be difficult; arranging her parent's room. Her foster parents room. Serena didn't understand why the people she called her parents all these years would keep a secret like that from her. If only they were here to answer her numerous questions. Tears filled her eyes again as she realized she missed them so much. She was about to go into her parents room to begin her chores when she heard the door bell ding.

Thinking it was Jayden who couldn't bear to stay away from her, she opened the door with a smile. Her smile was erased instantly as she took in the three figures standing before her. She knew instantly;these were her real parents.

The resemblance was uncanny. The two men had her kind of purple hair and silver eyes, while the woman had thick black hair and amber eyes. There was a striking resemblance between she and the younger man standing with the couple.

She snapped out of her thoughts and asked,"Can I help you?"

The older man smiled and said, "I think you know who we are already. But for the sake of courtesy, I'll introduce myself",there was a brief pause then he added,"Can we come in?"

Serena knew there was no need prolonging the inevitable. She wanted answers and she knew they were the only one who could give her. She stepped aside and made way for them to pass. As they walked in, her eyes met the younger man's eyes and he gave her a little smile. She averted her eyes and shut the door.

"What a wonderful house",the woman said, speaking for the first time. Serena turned and smiled stiffly.

"Thank you",she muttered. "Please have a seat. Can I offer you anything?"

"Never mind my dear",the older man said again. "Like I said, I'm sure you know who we are. Your foster parents must have told you everything. Where are they?"

Serena felt tears pooling in her eyes. She sniffed and wiped them off. "Oh darling, what's wrong?"the woman asked worriedly. Serena shook her head and dried her eyes.

"My parents are dead. They died in a car crash yesterday night"Serena said, holding back tears. The older man frowned and said,"I'm so sorry. But I'm sure you know already, that they're not your real parents. We are."

"They're the only parents I know. They've been the one in my life since I can remember"Serena burst out in anger. "You can't just come here claiming ownership over me and expect me to fall into your waiting arms. Where have you been all these years? Why show up now?"

The older man smiled. He was glad to know that his daughter had a temper like him. It showed that she would be a great leader. Serena watched the smile on his face and concluded that the man was sick. Why else would he smile in the middle of a heated matter?

"I know you have every right to be mad...."he began.

"You got that right",Serena said in anger.

The man continued,"But if you can just listen to us you would understand everything. I know you have questions. I will give you the answers you seek"

Serena looked him in the eye, eyes that were so identical to hers.

"Fine",she said.

"Good. Let me start by introducing myself. I am Logan Michaelson, your father",Logan said. He turned to the woman beside him and said,"This is my wife Isabel. She's your mother." The woman smiled at Serena and Serena found herself returning the smile.

"And that's my son, Xavier",Logan ended. Serena was shocked. "I have a brother?" Her eyes fell on the younger man that looked so much like her. His purple hair grazed the collar of his shirt. His eyes were exactly like hers;it was like she was staring into a mirror. He smiled at her and spoke. He had a nice deep voice"Not just your brother. Your twin"

Serena felt her eyes widen. She had a twin? She had always wanted a little brother or a sister. She never knew her prayers had already been answered. But why did her parents give her out and keep him? Didn't they want her? Her brows furrowed in confusion.

"I know you have a lot of questions Serena",Logan said. Serena's eyes flew up in astonishment. He knew her name? Isabel spoke up,"Don't be so surprised dear. We gave you that name the day you were born. You're not Serena Williams. You're Serena Michaelson",she smiled. "My daughter".

Serena's head was reeling. "If you gave me that name the day I was born, how come you abandoned me?" Why?"she asked. She felt as if she would go crazy with all the questions in her head.

"Your mother and I will explain everything to you",Logan said. "But you need to come with us. To your real home. To your family"

Xavier spoke up,"I know it's a lot to take in. I was shocked myself when mom and dad told me everything. But I understood. And you will too. But you need to come with us. You're safer with your family."

Serena didn't want anything to do with them. They abandoned her since she was born, they could as well leave without her. " I'm so sorry sir....",she began

"Logan. I know you're not okay with calling me dad yet. Just call me Logan",Logan cut her short.

Serena couldn't bring herself to call him by his name. And she would never call him dad. Although her foster parents were late, they will always be her true parents. But she kept these thoughts to herself.

"Well I'm sorry. But I can't just follow you off to wherever you came from. I have a life here, I have friends. And I'm not ready to change that",she said. She badly wanted answers but she made up her mind. They could go to hell with their bloody answers. She didn't care. She was Serena Williams and nothing would change that.

Logan sighed deeply and stood up. He knew it would end like this. Serena wouldn't just agree to come with them after all these years. In a way, he was impressed with her will to remain here. But he knew she would change her mind. It was only a matter of time.

"I wouldn't want to force you",he said. "I know how hard it is, and you're going through a lot. But if you ever need answers to your questions, this is my card",he placed a black card on the table. "You can call me whenever you feel ready. Your family will be waiting for you. We will leave you now".

Isabel got up and walked slowly towards Serena. "Would it be okay if I hugged you Serena?"she asked uncertainly. Serena liked the woman. She was her birth mother after all. So she nodded. Isabel drew Serena into her arms and hugged her tight.

"My daughter", she whispered. She drew back and held Serena's face in both hands. "You've grown so big. Please think about it and come back to your family. We all miss you",she said.

It was all so confusing for Serena. But she nodded and smiled. Isabel turned and walked to her husband.

"We hope to hear from you Serena",Logan said. He held his wife and they exited the house. Xavier finally got up and walked up to Serena. "I hope you change your mind. Mom and Dad did what they had to do. And I've always wanted to meet my twin sister",he said with his nice voice.

"Why can't you just tell me everything?"Serena inquired despite the fact that she said she didn't care about answers.

"Mom and Dad will tell you everything when you're ready. Just think about it",Xavier said and turned to go. Serena watched him walk to the door then she said,"I'm glad I have a twin. I always wanted a sibling and I'm glad I do"

Xavier turned and flashed a smile at her. Serena smiled back and lowered her eyes. "See me off?",Xavier asked. Serena looked up and nodded.

She walked with Xavier to the door and her eyes widened in surprise. The Michaelsons' were rich. Logan and Isabel were standing in front of a limo. Xavier watched the expression on her face and laughed softly. "See you soon sis",then he walked away. Isabel waved at her and she waved back. Logan nodded at her and they all entered the limo and zoomed off.

Serena shut the door and leaned on it. She couldn't keep this news to herself anymore. She had to tell the squad.
