I woke up at 9 p.m. to find Kiran standing in my doorway, looking at me. He didn’t say anything as he turned around and walked out of my room. I got up and followed him downstairs. I knew I had some explaining to do. I switched my emotions off because I knew he would be looking. He was busy pouring Scotch into two glasses at the kitchen table and I sat down opposite him.“Saga told us,” he said and I knew instantly that he was referring to Chrissie, the dead girl.“Okay,” I said, not really caring that she told them.“I asked you and you kept quiet,” he said. He was angry but he was still in control of his anger. It meant he was giving me a chance to explain myself.“You said to stand on my own two feet and that’s what I did. I handled everything else,” I said as he put the glass down in front of me.“Talk to me, Kai,” he said gently and I wished that I could. I truly wanted to tell him everything. I got up slowly, feeling dazed and sick to my stomach, as I looked at George. His eyes were still open and I could feel the rising bile in my throat. I drove to his training center and parked the Jeep across the street. I pushed the door open and watched Levi working on his wooden dummy for a few minutes.
