In My Godfather’s Bed のすべてのチャプター: チャプター 101 - チャプター 110

Enzo:Mr. Bolden stretched his hand out to shake mine. For a man his age, his grip was strong. He smiled at me and gave a thoughtful nod to Tabitha, who was at my side. “My daughter was the one who set this all up.” His voice was surprisingly clear for a man his age as well. “I’m not really all for fancy dinners, but it is wonderful that you grace my home with your very capable secretary. I saw on the news the launch of your new car, and I had to say that she did stunning work.”Tabitha blushed beside me, and I smiled. It was nice to see her in such a great mood despite everything. “Should we all head to the dining table?” he said, leading the way. We followed. Except for his hunch and his slow walking pace, Mr. Bolden was in excellent health. The dinner table was set, and we each took our seats. I was happy that Tabitha chose a chair next to me. It was a small gesture, but I appreciated it nonetheless. “Everything is set, grandpa.”I recognized that voice. I looked up and I clas

Tabitha: I was outside with Drew, his hand on my waist as he comforted me. My eyes stung, my throat burned, but I was going to be fine. Drew sat me down on the porch and waited for me to catch my breath. I smiled at him with teary eyes, and he chuckled. “I really have no idea what to do,” he said. “I would bring you water, but that was what you choked on. So that would be a bad call.” I laughed, even though my throat felt like sandpaper. He was nice to talk to. Pleasantly chatty and was very invested in his career in cuisine. As much as I had been facing him for most of dinner, I was only half-listening. On my shoulders, I could feel Enzo’s jealous glare. I ignored him, but heard the times that he tried to come to Natasha’s aid when she was getting chewed out by her dad. I kept a straight face the entire time, but inside, I was grinning like that cat in Alice in Wonderland. And here I thought that I was going to have to be the one to show her up. Cheers, Mr. Bolden. “Yo

Tabitha:I said nothing. The car ride was quiet, and I watched the street lights pass with a blur. My fingers ran lazily across the buttons on the door, and soon I pressed one to lower the window. The evening breeze came in, whipping my hair softly and filling my nostrils with the evening freshness that I relished. Even though we had left Natasha’s house ages ago, I could still smell the flowers, the wisteria, the damp soil. I closed my eyes briefly, and I could still see the beautiful fireflies flying around and the cat taking a playful swat at them. I didn’t expect to enjoy myself at Natasha’s place, but it had been a perfect evening, and I wish it hadn’t come to an end. I knew that Enzo would be mad when he saw me with Andrew, but I could swear that we didn’t do anything, but after Mr. Bolden’s comments, I could only imagine what they had talked about. The man had been a nice host—harsh to Natasha, sure, but I didn’t like her, and she had it coming. Enzo said that they were su

Tabitha:“You.”My body shook with anger. Enzo stepped back, slight worry flickering in his eyes. “What did you do?” I demanded, placing an angry finger on his chest. I couldn’t stop hearing it: Nora crying, her eyes probably red and her voice hoarse. She liked Gregory, and now everything was ruined. “Didn’t you hear me? What did you do?!”“I called the hospital,” she whispered, stepping away from me, his eyes empty. “I saw how much seeing him affected you, and I asked them to suspend his license."I froze. I already knew, but hearing him confirm those words was like being hit by a rock. I stood there, head lowered, tears welling up in my eyes. Nora was miserable, Greg had lost his job, and it was all his fault.“Why did you do that?!” I barked, lifting my head, a few tears flying from my cheek. “Why did you have to interfere? What happened was years ago…”“Yet you saw him and immediately froze up and started acting strange,” he argued back. “I was trying to keep you safe. I was tryi

Enzo:Tabitha came back in the afternoon. She barely looked at me when I said ‘Good afternoon’ and asked how Nora was doing. She simply strode past me and went upstairs.Sunday had never been so quiet and tense. I called Grayson Hospital and asked them to return Dr. Gregory’s license to him, and that everything had been a misunderstanding. They seemed relieved. I also paid a huge sum to the hospital for all the damage I had caused and made promises to send some money to Dr. Gregory—anonymously—for the false report. The rape incident Tabitha had told me about wasn’t on any of his official records, so it either wasn’t reported or the school decided not to put it there because, from what I had seen, he had been a star pupil. His page was just lines and lines of laurels, awards and recognition. He was a very sought-after doctor and highly recommended. No negative reviews, scandals or complaints. If anything, he seemed to be the model doctor for the entire city. Maybe I overreacted. Mayb
