ELARA POV“Your father stole from me." His voice is cold. Great. Just a man my father owed. Again. The more I hear about my father, the more he feels like a stranger to me. Why does it seem like he’s stolen from everyone and their fathers? Even this man who is insanely dangerous and heartless enough to kill without flinching. When the first debtor came for me, I pitied my father, convincing myself that the cost of raising two daughters during a recession must’ve been too much. But now, with debtors crawling out of every corner, I can’t defend him anymore.I let out a shaky sigh, exhaustion bleeding through the fear choking me. I don’t even doubt what he said.He isn’t the first, and I’m sure he won’t be the last.Still, there’s something different about him. This man in the expensive suit, smelling of mint, dark spice, and something deeply masculine and wearing a face that looks like it’s forgotten what joy feels like. He seems like the kind who might actually kill me if I give him an

THE DEVIL POVIt doesn’t take five minutes before uccellina is found. Her escape plan was doomed from the start. If one of my men guarding the house hadn’t caught her, my trained dogs would have her running back into the house for safety.I stare across the backyard lake, vodka cooling in my tumbler. She’s been under my roof less than an hour and she’s already a headache I didn’t need.It isn’t too late. I could throw her out on the street and be done with it. Better yet put a bullet in her skull like I meant to. The latter leaves a metallic tang in my mouth. No.Anger knots in my chest at the very idea that I might feel anything for her. I don’t do soft. I don’t keep people alive for sentiment. Elara is the daughter of a traitor. Nothing more.I take another sip and the vodka bites down, but it doesn’t warm me. It only sharpens the edge of my irritation.Luca’s voice blooms behind me. “She’s been found.”I glance over my shoulder to see him filling the doorway. I stand six feet four,

ELARA POVThe silence thickens until the air feels heavy enough to choke on. We just… stare at each other. His gaze drags over me, trailing heat in its wake as every second stretches tighter and crueler.Icy blue eyes flicker with something that drops in my stomach, and spread like a hot, tingling sensation. My breath seizes, every nerve tightening in anticipation as I await his answer. Though, deep down, I already know the answer. Why will he ever do my bidding? He’s the devil, he doesn’t follow rules and no one ever tells him what to do—“Fine.”His sharp, low growl startles me, and my lips part, shocked.“Thirty days,” he continues, “You get your little countdown.”His hand brushes my jaw, tilting my face up until his breath ghosts over my lips.“But when the clock runs out…you’re mine. In every way that matters.”I shiver, hating that the sound of mine feels like a promise carved into my skin. The bed springs back up at the absence of his heavy weight, and I watch his broad should

ElARA POV“The master will like you to join him for breakfast.” The words that come out of Diana’s lips makes me groan.Respectfully or maybe not so respectfully, I don’t want to spend a single second in his company. His unfiltered, crude words still echo in my head, like cigarette smoke that clings to everything no matter how many times you wash it out.Even when I finally drifted off last night, his voice was there, low, rough, crawling into my dream like it had every business being in it.So no. I don’t want to see him. I don’t want to share a table, a room, or a breath with him. Because of what he said. Because I hate him. Because he brought me here against my will.“I’d rather not,” I mumble, pulling the warm blanket over my head. One good thing about this place since I arrived. Well, that and the food.“And I don’t care if it’s an order.” My voice is muffled beneath the blanket, syncing with Diana’s monotonic “It’s an order.”A beat passes before the blanket is yanked down my bo

THE DEVIL POV“I won’t,” he replies with a strained voice.“I mean it, Marco,” I groan. “This is your last chance.”His eyes flicker with surprise, but he doesn’t say anything. I have never threatened his position, but I have had enough of him. I’ll rather have him out of my business than fucking it up.He shifts his chair slightly toward Elara, as if trying to piss me off. It’s barely noticeable, but he’s already getting on my nerves so the smallest thing he does pisses me off.“Leave,” I say.“But breakfast—”My voice is harder. “You don’t even live here. Leave.” Marco and Gianna live with their mother in the heart of the city where the Moretti family first began.Grudgingly, he drags the chair back before standing. He flashes a smile toward Elara. “See you some around, Elara.”“That sounds like a threat,” Elara mutters under her breath, making me smirk. He hasn’t worked his charm on her after all. The also chuckles too before walking away and out of the room. When Marco is gone,
