HadesAdaptation??? That's the hallmark of a great leader. The duel hadn't gone as I had planned. I knew I didn't stand a chance of winning against Hunter, even if he was old and frail. Genetics had never played in my favor; I was too short, and the man overweighed me by at least seventy pounds. My wolf, to my ever-disappointment, got more of my father’s omega bloodline. But I went into the duel with a brilliant idea. Provoke Hunter’s wolf till the point he shifts, and then I would finish him off with the silver bullet. Though weapons were against the rules, once Hunter was dead, it would become a stale and moot point. The winner makes the rule, and no one dares to question the victorious Alpha. But that plan went to hell when Hunter broke my collarbone, and I was forced to shift first to keep up with the fight. I had to quickly come up with another plan, which is to go through the embarrassing act of giving up the pack, and it gave me enough time to grab my jacket without anyone

HadesI stood naked in front of the full-length mirror in the guest bathroom. The room that Jones had given me was below standard; it didn't even have its own bathroom. But that could hardly dull my sense of triumph as I examined the mark that Freya had left on my neck. It was beautiful, two perfect half-circles of tooth marks that were already scabbed over. It was perfect, she was perfect. Thank God I had never allowed Amelia to put her filthy mouth on me. I turned to check my other injuries. Hunter had mauled me quite badly in his half-wolf form. I had several bites and deep gashes along my arms, legs, and torso that probably should have been stitched. My lip was still swollen, and there were round, bruised puncture wounds in my neck. I ran my fingers over them and shivered. Fuck, that had been close. If Amelia hadn't called off her lover, I’d have been a dead man. And the lovely mark that Freya had given me. The swelling was already receding, but she’d left a rather colorful hal

Hunter I was a little stunned as I climbed the podium with Amelia’s warm, soft hand clutched mine. As if she sensed my hesitation, she turned her head and flashed a beautiful smile at me. Although I tried not to compare Amelia to my first mate, I couldn't help but notice the difference. Hera was small and fragile, a lovely but delicate flower that always needed protection. I knew that Hera couldn't help it; being petite and submissive was instilled in her DNA, and I had loved her completely. I never wished for her to be anything other than what she was. But Amelia.. She was so strong, not only in body but in mind and heart. She stood tall beside me, her blonde, wild curly hair spilling around her shoulders. Her head held high, her emerald green eyes danced with love and life. Her expression held a deep promise. No matter the circumstances, she would stand and fight at my side, as my equal always. I squeezed her hand and then turned to look upon the expectant faces of my people. The

FreyaI went down the hall, rubbing a towel through my sweaty hair. I had just come out from the gym, and I hadn’t yet reached my room for a proper shower. I paused near the door to my father’s office when I heard Hades’ voice from inside.“This is extremely urgent, Alpha Jones. I have a man on the inside, a member of the council, who told me that Hunter is planning to strike tonight.” I shifted position so that I could see my father sitting behind his imposing desk. His face was fixed in its emotionless mask. “Why would Hunter attack Starlight pack? We have a long history of peaceful and mutually beneficial relations.”Hades stood up from his chair, and I knew by the way his eyes cut to the door that he had sensed me there. “I should think it was obvious; Hunter wants to claim Starlight for himself. And since he has Amelia by his side, he feels he has a right to your pack. He can't risk that; I will rise again victorious.” “If Hunter has marked Amelia, he may have a legitimate righ

Gwen “You know this is a setup, right? He only came and uttered that stuff to you because he wanted you to follow him.” I followed Freya as she walked down the hallway. I wasn't sure where she was going until she turned down the corridor that led to the gym house. I had to jog the whole time to keep up with her. Freya didn’t stop until she reached the heavy door to the gym. She turned with her hand on the handle and tipped her head at me, “Yeah, I know.” I huffed, “But you are going anyway?”“Well, you’re right!” She gave me a cocky grin before she opened the door and flipped on the lights. She was so beautiful in her confidence, but it scared the hell out of me too. Hades might be her fated mate, but I had known him for years. I knew all too well what a monster he was and how ruthless he could be. My blood heated with desire even as my heart grew cold with fear. I loved Freya; the idea that she might get hurt was too much. “I’m going with you,” I declared even though I was one h
