Ciara's POV When we settled inside my best friend's room, she pulled out a mini skirt that could barely cover her ass and tossed it to me. Then a tank top that's too cropped, my tits will fall off if I lift my hands. It brings back memories of my anniversary night... Only that Cain wasn't here to see it. Shut up. You're not doing this for him but for yourself. I cringe as I lift the pieces of clothing between my fingers. "What is this?" "A temptress outfit." She beams with pride as she selects her own outfit. A mini see-through mesh dress that's opened at the bust area. She pairs it with a knee-length boot. "You're forgetting I'm married." She groans, stomping her feet against the floor like a child. "No. You're married to a man who’s currently balls-deep in his boyfriend. I remember." "What about playing along?" I asked desperately, looking for any excuse possible to stop me from wearing this... In public. "Someone... Could see and... Recognize me." I stutter with a shrug.

Ciara's POV "I should probably get going," I say, but I don’t move. Cain is still somehow blocking the door. "Haven’t you been listening to anything I’ve been saying? You are not going alone. I will take you home. As a matter of fact," he looks around and retrieves his phone from his pocket. "I think I will cancel this meeting so that I can take you home right away." I step back. "No, don’t. Go be with your girlfriend. You have a meeting, a movie date—please, go for it. Don’t bother me. I came here on my own… with someone." I correct. I will have to go find Seraphine. "No, I insist. I’m taking you back." "I cannot understand you, Cain. One moment, you mock me, you hate me, you act like I don’t exist, and then the next moment, you’re so protective, kind, and loving." "I’ve never hated you." The words he says stop me short. I’m unable to utter anything. He jaw clenched, as if he wants to step closer and say more. "I could never hate you," he repeats. "You just… you frust

Ciara's POV "Just call them," he insists, pushing his phone into my hands. "I can’t. If I call them… it won’t just be a conversation. It’ll reopen something that was buried." "Come on, then explain that something to me." "You won’t understand." "I’m not daft, okay? Explain it. What happened?" "I’m not ready to talk about it!" I yell, my chest heaving as I stared at him. "Why are you so concerned all of a sudden?" He says nothing, only inspecting my face. "I shouldn’t have forced you," he finally says, smoothing my hands. "Do it at your own pace. Whenever you’re ready." The car goes quiet again for a while before he begins speaking. "I’m the black sheep of my family. You are isolated and hated by your family. See? We do have something in common." He smirks. I almost want to smile, but this isn’t the time. I shake my head. "Not everything is a joke, Cain." His expression drops, realizing he’s done something wrong. "My apologies, princess," he adds lightly. He places

Ciara's POV I sit up, looking at him. He shakes his head and ends the call. "Mom is still in the hospital." "Oh my God. We need to get there right away. What happened?" "I don’t know. I think the issue is getting more serious. They might not allow her to be discharged anymore." "Oh my goodness. The whole family is there?" "Yes. We have to go see them." As he puts himself together and starts driving off, I suddenly scream, "Wait!" "What?" I look down. "Look at me. I can’t go to the hospital like this. The whole family is there." "Oh, fuck… oh, fuck."he bangs his hands against the steering wheel. "When we get there, I’ll give you my sweatpants. I have it in the boot of my car." "No. I can’t wear your sweatpants and your jacket. What’s that going to imply? What are they going to think?" "So you want us to go shopping now, princess?" He glances across the road, already calculating how to make a U-turn. "Okay, forget it. Forget it. No need," I say quickly. "Let’s ju

Ciara's POV I swipe to the inbox. there's a text from Cain. "Remember how you came on my cock while sobbing you hated me? I’m done pursuing, but your body hasn’t forgotten the wrong twin. Enjoy the ache while I respect your marriage… and while our secrets stay buried." "What’s that?" Simon’s voice resounds behind me. I jerk, quickly angling the screen out of his sight. "What?" I lift my eyes to meet his. "What are you reading on the phone?" he asks again, already reaching for it. "Nothing," I say quickly, pushing it further away from him, my eyes darting around the room. Luckily, everyone is distracted this time, engaged in their own conversations. No one is paying us any attention. "I said it’s nothing, Simon." I quickly press the power button, turning the screen dark. "Did my brother send you that text?" he whispers. "Simon, let me be. I said it’s nothing." I stand up and walk out of the ward. As expected, he follows me. "Ciara, wait up," he calls. "Let me be
