Astrid’s POV The corridor outside the medical wing was too bright. There are way too many people outside. Their voices overlapped, footsteps hurried wit that sharp scent of antiseptic biting at the back of my throat as I pushed through the doors without slowing. One of the junior healers tried to stop me but I didn’t even register what they said. The room was already crowded. Warriors lined the walls, all tense and useless. A healer was arguing under her breath near the cabinet witj her hands shaking as she sorted through vials. And at the center of it all— Calix lay small on the bed looking too still. Mira hovered over him her hands moving faint rapidly as she pressed them to his chest, her voice breaking over itself. “I didn’t mean— I didn’t know— oh please, please wake up —” Her tears fell freely rolling down her face and dripping onto his blanket as her shoulders shook.
