The next morning brought chaos.Liora stood in the middle of the training courtyard, her small hands clenched into fists. Purple lightning crackled around her uncontrollably. The other children had already run away screaming.“I didn’t mean to!” Liora cried, tears streaming down her face. “It just… happened!”Serena rushed forward, violet magic swirling around her to contain her daughter’s outburst. “Breathe, baby. Focus on my voice.”Kael stood protectively nearby, ready to jump in if needed. Damien observed from the shadows, his crimson eyes narrowed with concern. The power surge ended as suddenly as it started. Liora collapsed into Serena’s arms, sobbing. “Why am I like this? The other kids say I’m a monster…”Kael knelt beside them, pulling both into his strong embrace. “You are not a monster. You are our greatest gift.”The Council’s ShadowLater that afternoon, while Liora napped under heavy wards, the three Guardians gathered in their war room.A holographic map floated above t

The attack on the sanctuary left deep scars — both physical and emotional. The next morning, the Guardians’ home was filled with heavy silence. Serena was healing from a deep gash on her arm, Kael had fresh claw marks across his chest, and Damien moved with unusual stiffness after taking several hits.Liora sat in the corner of the living room, knees drawn to her chest, her tri-colored eyes dull and distant. The uncontrolled burst of power she had unleashed the night before had frightened even herself.“I’m sorry…” she whispered for the tenth time. “I didn’t mean to hurt anyone.”Serena knelt in front of her daughter, gently cupping her face. “You saved us, baby. But we need to teach you how to control it better.”Kael paced near the window, fists clenched. “She shouldn’t have to fight at all. She’s just a child.”“She’s not just a child anymore,” Damien said calmly from the doorway, arms crossed. “Her power is growing faster than we can prepare for. We can’t keep pretending she’s nor

The decision was made. They would return to the Nexus Chamber — the place where their family had been born — to train Liora and stabilize her growing power. But leaving the sanctuary meant abandoning the people who had come to rely on them. The night before departure, the Guardians held a final war council.Kael stood before the assembled leaders, his massive frame casting a long shadow. “We’re not abandoning you. We’re preparing for the real fight. The Eclipse Council wants Liora. We’re going to make sure they never get her.”Serena added, “The Nexus will help us control her power. When we return, we’ll be stronger.”But not everyone agreed.DivisionOne of the younger werewolf alphas, Marcus (named after the first victim of the original outbreak), stepped forward with a bitter expression.“So the legendary Guardians are running away while the rest of us die?” he snarled. “Your daughter is the reason they’re coming. Maybe we should just give her to them and save thousands of lives.”

The corrupted echo of Elara’s voice still lingered in the Nexus Chamber like a poisonous fog.“Serena… my sweet girl… come home…”The portal in the center of the spiral pulsed with sickly black and red energy. A spectral but solid figure stepped through — Elara’s form, but twisted. Her eyes were voids, and dark veins crawled across her skin.Liora screamed and hid behind Kael.Serena’s face went pale. “That’s not her… it can’t be her.”Kael shifted instantly, silver-black fur rippling over his body. “Stay behind us!”The EscapeThe corrupted Elara was not alone. Eclipse agents poured through the portal, their dark magic clashing violently with the Nexus’s ley lines. The chamber became a battlefield once again.Kael roared and charged, tearing through the agents with raw fury. Damien shadow-stepped through the chaos, ripping throats and disrupting their spells. Serena fought with tears in her eyes, violet magic clashing against the corrupted version of her mentor’s power.Liora, terrif

The family had barely escaped the ruined library with their lives. They took refuge in an old, abandoned observatory on the outskirts of the campus — the same place where they had once shared their first night of healing years ago. The cracked dome still let in moonlight, casting silver beams across the circular room.Liora was finally asleep, exhausted from the battle, curled up in a nest of blankets Serena had enchanted for protection. The three adults sat together against the curved wall, breathing heavily, bodies covered in cuts and bruises.Kael broke the silence first. “I almost lost control back there. If Liora hadn’t called me back…”Serena leaned her head on his shoulder. “We all almost broke.”Damien was unusually quiet, staring at the floor with distant crimson eyes.Serena noticed. She reached out and took his hand. “What is it?”Damien hesitated, then spoke softly. “Seeing Viktor’s echo… even twisted, it brought everything back.”Damien’s Shadowed Past“I told you once ho
