Vivian felt like she was floating among the clouds. She had been selected to go to The Lycan World for research by Zodiac Space Research Organization. Very few astronauts got an opportunity to go on missions beyond the Solar System. So, it was natural to feel thrilled. Her mission was to report about the life found in The Lycan World. She was supposed to just observe the planet from far, capture images and return. When her space ship gets into the orbit of the planet, she is awestruck to see bipeds almost identical to humans.Curiosity gets the better of her and she lands on the planet without permission. The planet is in fact the home to thousands of werewolves who lead a primitive life; hunting and eating raw meat. The werewolves consider her just a piece of flesh that can be eaten and fight over her but she is saved by one of them. How will a powerless human survive alone in the world of werewolves? What will happen when she develops feelings for the one that wants her dead?
View MoreVivian was seated on the cold floor of a poorly lit room. Her copper-brown tresses bounced on her forehead in the light breeze that blew in through the window.
The loneliness and despair of the moonlit sky reflected in her electric blue eyes. She fiddled with the IAD (Information Analyzing Device) In her hand. It was just a piece of metal since its power had long died, and there was no way to power it up.
The door burst open with a loud creak. Vivian understood that it was Sandilo without even looking up. He always used unnecessary force to open the door.
She stared at the floor, not daring to look into his honey gold eyes. An intense fragrance of crisp mist assaulted her, making her feel strangely drunk.
“Today it is the full moon night. I will secure this room with chains and heavy locks. Don’t knock or try to attract other’s attention in any way.” His rich, husky, but slightly hoarse voice resounded in the room, making her jump slightly.
Her chin was pushed up by his rough fingers when she didn’t reply. Her eyes held the molten gold ones that oozed of power. His pupils had turned slightly red due to anger.
Vivian forgot everything and lost herself in them.
“Didn’t you hear me?” Sandilo said in a slightly louder voice that made her jump right out of her skin.
She gulped and bobbed her head up and down immediately.
“Good…” He said and turned on his heel. Then he walked away without even sparing her a second glance.
Vivian couldn’t help but admire the view. Even in the dim light, she could see his silhouette. The muscles on his bareback flexed as he moved. The velvet trousers he wore highlighted the taut muscles of his calf.
She placed her hand on her chest, trying to calm down her racing heart. She was afraid that she would die of a heart attack before these hunky men killed her.
No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t sleep that night. Sandilo’s words kept repeating in her head like a record. She wanted to ask him why he was going to lock the doors. But, she was rendered speechless whenever he came close to her.
She walked to the window and peered outside. The moon had now completed its half journey and was almost overhead.
The moment the moon reached exactly overhead mournful howls echoed through the environment. Her eyes widened as several robust men gathered in the open ground facing the room.
She could clearly make out the silhouette of Sandilo in the center of these men. He was taller than most of them, and he seemed stronger too.
Her heart almost stopped beating when she heard a howl erupt from his mouth. She heard popping noises. Then more growls and howls resounded, sending shivers down her spine.
Soon, Sandilo had morphed into a large black wolf. It was almost double the size of an average human. The only thing that stayed the same were his eyes. They remained the color of molten gold.
Vivian hadn’t even recovered from this shock when burning rocks started raining down from the sky.
“What the f**** is going on!?” She exclaimed as she watched the scene unfold before her eyes. She was too terrified even to shut them. Her knees shook severely, and she had to grip the window sill to keep from falling over.
Suddenly, she heard a loud yelp, and pain shot through her. Her eyes swept around the ground, looking for Sandilo. Her heart sank when she saw him lying beneath one of the burning rocks.
The other wolves seemed to be in a trance. None of them came forward to help Sandilo. She looked below the window. It wasn’t too high.
Without giving it a second thought, she climbed on the window sill and jumped down. Unfortunately, she landed in an awkward angle, causing intense pain shoot through her body.
She had to clench her teeth to muffle the scream that threatened to escape. She hobbled to the place where Sandilo was lying under a burning rock. By this time, he had already thrown off the boulder.
She watched with wonder as the wounds healed as if by magic. Soon the fur that was matted with blood became speckless as if he was never hurt.
“Thank God, you are alright.” She said, sighing with relief, but she didn’t get a reply, for Sandilo was in his wolf form.
Today was that fateful night when the men lost control over themselves and turned into ferocious wolves.
When Vivian realized what she had done, she tried to get up and run, but her feet gave way, and she fell back. Her movement attracted the attention of the other wolves. They let out a low growl and moved towards her menacingly.
Her hands and legs shook severely, as she crawled backward with each step they took. They seemed to be in no hurry. Saliva dripping out of their mouths, they kept moving at a steady pace.
Unfortunately, her back hit the wall, and now she couldn’t even move backward.
She looked into Sandilo’s mesmerizing eyes one last time and pleaded, “Please, don’t kill me.” Those remained in her head as her mouth was too dry to utter a single word.
She shut her eyes tightly, waiting for them to pounce on her. Being an astronaut, she had been in several life-threatening situations.
She knew that risking her life was a part of an astronaut’s life. She often thought about the different ways in which she could die during her missions. But, none of them were as painful as being torn apart by wolves.
Vivian woke up with a start the next morning; completely drenched in sweat. She gripped the edge of the bed as she tried to catch her breath.“Vivi, what happened, love?” Sandilo asked groggily as he sat up rubbing his eyes.“I… saw that a fleet of spaceships had attacked the Lycan World and we both were running about, trying to save our daughter,” Vivian muttered with a horrified look.“Love, look at me…” Sandilo said drawing closer and lifting her chin.Looking into her eyes, he said, “It was just a dream. We are safe at the AV cottage. There is no attack.”Vivian’s eyes swept around the room and she relaxed considerably. Sandilo was right. It was only a dream. Still, she couldn’t help but wonder why she had seen the nightmare.Suddenly, she jumped to her feet and ran out. Sandilo shook his head at her weird behavior before following her out.It was a good thi
The unification ceremony was to be held by the lakeside. It was tradition to exchange vows under the moonlight.Sana checked the decorations one last time before the guests started to arrive. It was unlike anything the werewolves had ever seen. The whole stage was carved out of a single slab of pure white marble. It dazzled in the moonlight giving it a surreal look.Four pillars flanked the stage. Garlands of flowers entwined around the pillars like vines. Streamers and garlands ran between the pillars creating an enclosure of sorts. They had even managed to make four light bulbs glow in the corners. It was perfect just like Vivian had envisioned. Sana just wanted to add some additional effect. She took out a jar and opened it. The next moment, hundreds of fireflies flocked around the light bulbs, giving the setting a fairytale look. The area around the lake had been cleared to make room for the guests. In the extreme right corner, a huge stone oven had b
Sandilo’s eyes darted from Grandpops to the steep descent. He was torn between following his mate and leaving her Grandpa alone in this unknown place.“It is okay, Go and get her…” Grandpops said, taking off his glasses and cleaning them.“But… Grandpops… This place is not safe. What if the wolves attack while I am away… Vivian will never forgive me…”Grandpops cleared his throat and said, “What if something happens to her?”Sandilo wrung his hands. He was really in a great fix. Just when he thought that things couldn’t get any worse, he heard the cracking of the leaves followed by heavy footsteps. His ears perked and he positioned in front of Grandpops.Grandpa let out a snort and said, “I don’t think I need your protection, cub. Move aside."Sandilo’s heartbeat accelerated as Grandpops shoved him out of the way and walked towards the brink
The winds blew up the dust like a huge whirlwind but Sandilo and Vivian stood frozen, dazzled by the sight. The spaceship landed as softly as the flamingoes skimming over the water. A door slid open and a slide of sorts rolled down.An old man with grey hair, bespectacled eyes, and wrinkled face emerged out of the entrance and slid down as if he were riding a huge slide. His face was lit up with child-like curiosity. His eyes darted around, drinking in the beautiful landscape. He opened his arms and took in a deep breath. His face flushed with contentment.Vivian couldn’t believe what she was seeing. She felt like she will go crazy with the intensity of emotions that she felt at that time.Much to Sandilo’s surprise, she leaped into the air and launched herself at the old man. She started licking his face just like a dog licks her master if they see them after a very long time. The old man was dumbfounded when the huge white wolf pounce
“Sandy, Rewa is desperate for a run. Can we just trot up the mountain and come back?” Vivian asked batting her eyelashes.Sandilo groaned and said, shaking his head, “You know you can’t do that. Why do you keep pestering me with the same question, Vivi.”Vivian’s face flushed and she said glaring at him, “I am so done with this stupidity. It is a month since this craziness started. I don’t care if I die the next moment. I am going out.”Sandilo grabbed her arm and raised her face by her chin saying, “I don’t want to make you unhappy love. I am just worried about your safety.”“Just take your hands off me, Sandy. I have had enough of it. I am not some barbie doll whom you can keep trapped in a cage…. I am bloody suffocated trapped in this stupid cottage all this while.” She screamed, shoving him aside. She took her wolf form and was outside the door with a singl
Sandilo felt a tickling sensation in his nose, he turned in his sleep and sneezed. Vivian giggled as she watched him rub his nose and doze off again. She inserted the grass stalk in his nose again and twirled it gently. He grunted something and turned to the other side again.Sandilo woke up with a start when Vivian was about to twirl the stalk for the third time.“Who the F***! is that?” He roared, his face red with fury. The stalk from Vivian’s hand dropped and she crossed her arms puffing her cheeks.Realization dawned on Sandilo as he took in Vivian’s upset expression. He started apologizing instantly, “I am so sorry, love… I didn’t realize it was you…”Vivian just pursed her lips and looked away.Sandilo kicked himself inwardly.F***! Did he have to screw everything up so soon? Damn! His temper. His eyes darted around the room looking for inspiration to cheer Vivi
