Character relationships evolve significantly across the two main works. A rivalry in book one becomes a complex alliance in book two. A mentorship deepens. Reading the sequel first would make these evolving dynamics seem sudden and unearned.
The order allows you to grow attached to (or annoyed by) characters naturally, so their later choices resonate. If you're a reader who values character depth over pure system mechanics, this sequence is even more critical. The plot is cool, but the people make you care.

It's a single, continuous story split into two titled works for publishing convenience. So the full reading order is just those two titles in sequence. Any other material, like the reboot or side stories, exists outside that continuity.
I treat them like DVD special features—fun to explore after the main feature is over. For the primary narrative journey, you have a clear, unobstructed path. Don't let the existence of extra content make you doubt the simple, straight road from the first chapter of the first book to the last chapter of the second.

It's basically a duology. Sure, they have different names and protagonists, but they tell one overarching story about the evolution of a world under a 'System.' Start with Book 1: 'My Vampire System.' Then proceed to Book 2: 'My Dragon System.' Any other order is incorrect and will fragment your understanding. There are no alternate timelines or parallel stories to weave in. Keep it linear and your experience will be coherent and much more impactful.

I appreciate that the author didn't make it convoluted. No need for charts or timelines. It's Series A, then Series B. In an era where every fantasy universe needs a complicated reading order with novellas and interquels, this simplicity is refreshing. Just read the stories in the order they were written. The narrative will guide you naturally from one to the next.

What's the best website to read these in order without missing chapters? I keep finding sites that have one series but not the other, or they're riddled with incomplete machine translations. It's frustrating trying to follow a simple two-step order when the chapters themselves are scattered across the internet.

I was born with a gift: the rare ability to bear powerful hybrid children for a vampire. I should have been cherished for it.
Instead, my mother died young, her inheritance seized by my stepmother, my father's affection stolen by my stepsister.
Only Ryan, heir to the vampire King, treated me with gentleness.
When I was young, he fell for me at first sight and was secretly in love with me for two years.
Later, at a gala, someone pushed me into a frozen lake. He was the one who pulled me out.
He bent close, his eyes soft.
“Marry me. Let me protect you.”
I said yes without hesitation.
Because no one had ever stood beside me so surely.
I loved him with everything I had. When assassins struck at our wedding, I even stepped in front of the bullet meant for his heart.
But after I dragged my weakened body through childbirth and gave him his child, he appeared before me with my stepsister Vicky in his arms.
“You have no use to me anymore.”
Ryan's eyes were cold and foreign.
“The person I love has always been Vicky.”
He had chosen me only for my bloodline, purer, better suited to produce an heir.
Vicky smiled and drove the knife into my chest.
Ryan stood to one side and watched me die.
When I opened my eyes again, I was back on the night Ryan proposed.
Vicky was crying, begging to take my place and marry him instead.
This time, I closed my eyes.
“All right. I agree to the exchange.”
Akira Yumi Clemente has been living her life resenting the vampires who killed her entire family. There was no moment she stopped thinking of the day she could wipe the vampires' existence. Akira was just one step closer to it; she had to become the leader of her clan.
However, her plan got messed up when the vampire king sent a letter to her grandfather. She had to wed the vampire crown prince, her mortal enemy, in four months. After deliberating it in a bar, she decided to change her plans; she must marry the vampire prince and kill every vampire on their wedding day.
That night, she met a man named Leon, who she had asked for a kiss with the intention of not letting the vampire crown prince be her first kiss. She'd rather kiss an ordinary human stranger than her enemy—little did she know that the stranger she kissed was the vampire crown prince.
The vengeful Akira, what will be her life when she wakes up in a stranger's bed thinking something happened between them? And on top of that, what will be her decision if she finds out Leon is the vampire prince? Will she choose to let her desire for revenge be her way or play the game Leon had presented to her?
I followed the author on Patreon during the serialization. They were very clear that 'My Dragon System' is a 'next story' not a 'side story.' It's intended to be read after. Sometimes they'd even refer to events from the first book when talking about the second's world-building. So from the source itself, the intended order is sequential. That's the closest we have to a Word of God.
The side stories often focus on side characters who get less development in the main plot. If you find yourself really liking a particular ally or villain, seek out the side story featuring them. It's a character-driven way to navigate the expanded universe.
The order's pretty straightforward since it follows the web serialization. Start with Volume 1, obviously. The author, JKSManga, structured it as a direct continuation from the web novel arc, so you won't get lost jumping from volume to volume. Just follow the numbers on the cover, they map directly to the story progression. Some side stories or extra chapters might get bundled, but the core plot is linear.
I'd avoid trying to read the web novel chapters interspersed unless you're a completionist, as the light novel version usually has revised and polished content. Stick to the published volumes in numerical order for the cleanest experience.
