DEATH REINCARNATE
Telling him the exact old told tale.
“Don’t you remember those happy voices in your mind as you sleep? Or maybe the screams you hear of terror in a nightmare. What is a nightmare? Isn’t a nightmare a small prison you’re trapped in, with no hopes of waking? Why? Because you never know you’re asleep. You forget everything, your name, your life, and who you are. The only thing to accompany you are the monsters that laugh in your mind, that taunt you, knowing everything. Your life, your happiness, everything that had been stolen away. But the scariest part of the nightmare won’t be the monsters. They aren’t scary themselves. The most fearful thing of all is that they are yours. That you can hear them. That you dreamed of them. You dreamed of something to fear yourself, by letting your mind wander with innocence. Maybe it’s the sharp teeth and beast eyes that bring you chills in the night. Their laughing moans cease you from a peaceful sleep. Or maybe, just maybe, the only reason why you’re scared is that you know what those monsters are. You know the laughter all too well because you remember doing it. You remember the taunting
so well that you dreamed about it. You know the cold steel beams because you remember touching them. And you know that scream so well because you remember causing it. And you remember the monsters so well, because, well... You are one.”
