The next week was the Blood Moon, the day I was supposed to form a mate bond with Nyxen Stormborn, the future Alpha of the Eclipse Pack.
Instead, I stood before the Pack Elders, slicing my palm to void the contract.
In my past life, I had been Nyxen’s ultimate weapon. I used my Pack's strong background to fight his wars, expand his borders, and secure his throne. I took silver blades to the chest for him, believing his whispered promises that I was his ultimate mate.
But as I lay dying in the pack hospital from a poisoned rogue blade, he didn’t rush to my side. Through the glass, I saw him holding Aphra—a fragile, scentless Omega orphan my family had sheltered. He looked at my fading body with absolute disgust, muttering to her,
"Finally, the obstacle is dying. I can finally give you the Luna title she stole from you."
The gods must have heard my dying curse, because the moment my heart stopped, I woke up in the past—one week before the Blood Moon. The very night he organised a whole week bachelor's party and openly romanticized Aphra, humiliating our bond before everyone.
“I’m taking you as my mate, Lucy. But my body will always belong to the she-wolf I love. I’ll be spending the night with Aphra tonight. So, I can't pick you up for the party. You come by yourself and better get used to it.”
It was only then that I realize Nyxen was reborn too. In our previous life, he had confidently lied that I was the only one in his life. It was because I had loved him like crazy in our previous life that he was so certain I would never leave him, and he dared to confess his love for Aphra so openly.
"Are you certain of this, Catherine?" the High Elder asked, his voice shaking as he looked at the mate arrangement I had selected from the sacred parchment.
"I am certain," I said, my voice cutting through the stone chamber like ice. "Bind me with the rogue prince, Alieus Stormborn instead.”
