Lonely Dove

Lonely Dove

it was her one aim. It seemed to her she had learned to sweat at the same time she had learned to breathe, and she was still doing both. Of all the places she had heard men talk about, San Francisco sounded the coolest and nicest, so it was San Francisco she set her sights on. Sometimes it seemed like slow going. She was nearly twenty-four and hadn’t got a mile past Lonesome Dove, which wasn’t fast progress considering that she had only been twelve when her parents got nervous about Yankees and left

Whispers of the Forgotten

Whispers of the Forgotten

The landscape was alien and foreboding, a surreal amalgamation of shifting shadows and fragmented structures that seemed perpetually on the verge of collapse. The air was thick with an unsettling stillness, broken only by the occasional whisper of forgotten memories. Each whisper was like a ghostly touch against her skin, a fleeting sensation that left her shivering. The whispers were disjointed, fragments of conversations, cries, and laughter that seemed to echo from the very walls of Nyxterra. They whispered her name in haunting, fragmented tones, urging her deeper into the darkness.

The 100-DAY ECHO

The 100-DAY ECHO

Day Twelve. The Sterling estate library was a cavernous, two-story marvel of dark mahogany, winding spiral staircases, and thousands of leather-bound first editions. For three years, it had been Silas’s exclusive sanctuary. I had rarely crossed the threshold, knowing it was the one place he retreated to when he wanted absolute silence from the burden of his marriage. Tonight, the sanctuary was mine. It was 1:00 AM. I was seated at the massive, claw-footed desk in the center of the room, illuminated only by the warm, amber glow of a brass reading lamp and the harsh blue light of my laptop screen.

Marrying Without You

Marrying Without You

The singer was way off-key, but everyone looked genuinely delighted. For people this lonely, hearing any singing itself was beautiful. It didn't matter whether it was good or not. Rosalyn stood silently by the door without going in. Watching their smiling faces that still couldn't hide their loneliness, she suddenly recalled a line from One Hundred Years of Solitude: 'In the end, all you're left with is your lonely self.' Looking at these elderly folks proved the quote right. Everyone would end up the same, so what was the point of fighting over love and scrambling for money? Did any of it matter in the end?

The Lonesome Hours

The Lonesome Hours

I bit my lip, feeling a bit embarrassed, and could only offer a brief explanation. “Farrell drives a long-haul truck. He only comes home a few times a year.” “I see…” Hearing this, Cowell nodded knowingly, though I did not notice the fleeting gleam of shrewdness that flashed beneath his eyelids. As time went by, all my heat seemed to converge on my lower abdomen. It felt as if a furnace had suddenly been activated in my core. I wanted it so badly… No, I cannot make a fool of myself in front of Jetson’s friend. That would be utterly humiliating.

Come Be With Me, The End Is Here

Come Be With Me, The End Is Here

Auntie murmured, voice low. She nodded. “I know. But we’ll make it work. We always do.” But the truth was, Autumn had never felt more alone. Everything she had been reading for months in that book was coming to fruition. The silence in the house after dark was so complete, she sometimes pressed her palm to her chest just to feel her own heartbeat.

Betrothed To Six Lovers

Betrothed To Six Lovers

she whispered into my hair. And then they were gone. The door shut. The lock turned from the outside. I heard their footsteps, faint and fading, swallowed by the hungry forest. The silence they left behind was the loudest thing I’d ever heard. *** The first day was a lesson in the physics of solitude. Sound expanded to fill the space. The creak of the cabin settling was a footstep. The scrabble of a branch on the roof was a hand, testing the shingles. I jumped at my own shadow.

Why would she suffer the desires of all these men. I really hope Lila Voss discovers herself that they truly do not love her, I hope she finds herself and conquers their dark secrets and such an evil plotting step mother and her deadly curse. She truly deserves victory to be queen.

What a beautifully crafted story, it looks so real. The plot is great. I thought it was only men that get robbed of love by several lovers. But, I like her spirit in the end, despite her loss. She stood her place to start life afresh regardless. This is a must read, read to the end you will love it.

Seducing The Bloodmoon Princess

Seducing The Bloodmoon Princess

I wasn’t even sure if he’d gotten everything settled with his frat brothers when he drove me to the airport in the morning. I tried to let those thoughts fade away while on my flight home. I put in my earbuds and decided to listen to one of the smutty werewolf audio books Hana has gotten me hooked on, Alpha Gray by CJ Primer, with Theo and Maddie as narrators. The book is HOT, and Theo’s voice… yeah, it makes for an enjoyable two-and-a-half-hour flight. I love how he changes his voice when speaking for each Alpha. Hana told me they’ve done the narration for the rest of the series, and I can’t wait to listen.

The Billionaire’s Regret Clause; One Year Together. One Love

Christmas was the reading of the book. This Christmas, Don's book was a novel—Norwegian, which was not a coincidence, a novel by the same writer whose essays were in the Norway reading programme. The novel was called The Dark Year, and it was about a man who spent a winter alone in a cabin in the far north of Norway, experiencing the full darkness for the first time. Don had been saving it since September, when he had finished the essays. He had placed it on the shelf above his desk, the designated holding place for the Christmas book, and had not opened it once.

A Hundred Goodbyes

A Hundred Goodbyes

Since I didn’t own much, it didn’t take long. Then, I noticed something tucked beneath the bed. A navy blue journal. It was mine. Flipping it open, my eyes landed on memories I couldn’t recall but had once written. "Day one of our marriage. Shawn didn’t come home." "He said I was manipulative. That I drugged him to marry me. But I don’t even remember that night." "Attempt 1: He said even if I died in front of him, he wouldn’t flinch." "Attempt 100: If he still doesn’t care, and my parents still don’t love me, then maybe I’ll stop trying since no one in this world sees me."
