13 The Book Romane & Geschichten

Isabella at thirteen is navigating the specific difficulty of being thirteen with the same focused efficiency she brings to everything. She's thirteen in the way that means she's caught between childhood and adulthood. She's got opinions about everything and the confidence to express them. She's got emotions that shift rapidly and the self-awareness to recognize when she's being irrational. She's got a social life that matters and the ability to prioritize her own needs within it. She's formidable in a new way now. She finds my book on the shelf one afternoon. Doesn't ask permission to read it. Just takes it to her room and I don't see her for three days except for meals.

“Remember? The Alpha said they have no influence over the points.” I turned to John, who was absorbed in a massive book balanced on his lap. “Where did you get that?” “The library,” he replied, closing it momentarily. “The Secret Life of the Thirteen Pack: True Testimony from a Living Witness by Elder Adam.” Jess raised an eyebrow. “I see you’re buying into the very trash you used to dismiss.” “I believe him now,” John said earnestly, tapping a page. “He’s telling the truth about the Thirteen Pack.”

Damon interrupted calmly, “I think it’s time to call the priest. Christabel seems certain of her claim, so there’s no need to ask her again.” “No!” Christabel cried, cutting Damon off, her voice rising in panic. “Please!” She dropped to her knees, trembling. “I’m so sorry! I don’t know what came over me—I don’t know what I was thinking!” Tears pooled in her eyes as she broke down completely.

I pulled out my books and started laying everything out across my bed, organizing it. “Hey dinner is ready.” Mathius says. “Fuck, you couldn’t have knocked? You scared the shit out of me.” I gasp. “I did knock, but you didn’t respond. You were lost in all of that shit strewn across you bed.” Mathius retorts.

“I love it!” “There’s more,” I said, unable to contain my smile. “Thea, you should come check out this one book.” Thea followed my gesture to an antique-looking book that was sticking ever so slightly out from the others. The spine read “The Secret Garden”. She stared at it, clearly confused. “Go ahead,” Elijah said with a grin. “Pull the book out and tell us what it’s about.” She frowned, clearly wondering why we were telling her to read old books when she just wanted to run around and play, but obliged. However, the book didn’t fully come out of the shelf—it extended halfway, and then a loud click came from behind it.

She gasped. “Wait—this isn’t a lineage book,” she said. “It’s... oh goddess, Kayla—look.” I turned toward her. She held up a thick black leather-bound book. Gold lettering had long since faded, but one sentence remained etched across the front: My secret thoughts. I couldn't see the Authors name though. Just the title. “Is that a diary?” I whispered. “Looks like it.” "Belonging to who?" I asked but Ingrid shook her head.

Lex exclaimed while he was trying to let Lex walk his way to his safe haven. Lex raise his hand to take out the shield that he puts in there and when they step inside he raise his hand to out back the shield. "Sorry about that." Lex continues talking about what has just happen. "Oh no, that was fine." Liam responded. "You okay? Are you hurt?" Lex asked while he turned around and glance at him who were behind. "I'm fine Lex." Liam responded and then he looks at him seriously. He was the youngest and have the most impulsive decisions in life but still Liam needed to convince him with the union and peace of their own brothers.

Klark, ‘Tribid Greed’ by Steve Reynolds, and a lot of other books. One by one Trisha returned all the books she'd picked. When she was beginning to get tired and unmotivated, the corner of her eyes perceived a strange book on a shelf not too far from where she was. Its spines were tattered and appeared like spiky wires beneath the poor lighting.
