I was cast out of the pack with nothing— No title. No Luna severance. No den to call my own. And then… perhaps the Moon Goddess took pity on me. She gave me one final chance to rewrite fate. Alpha Ulric let the men talk amongst themselves while they took in the information. “What packs are doing this? What Alphas and Alphas-to-be are doing this?” Alpha Reese from New Moon said. “At least Cold Moon, Eclipse, Far Side, Storm Moon, Mead Moon, and Crescent Moon. I suspect there may be more,” Alpha Ulric said. More murmurs and talking.

Tristan spoke up. "The goddess of the half moon," Trevor said. They were already away from the curtains, and the statue was already out of sight. Luna pulled back her head and glanced at them. "Half-moon? I thought there was only one moon goddess." Alexa grunted. "You know nothing about Lunar Crest; how are we sure you are not an imposter?" Trevor ignored her. "There are two goddesses of the moon." Adrian chimed. "There are two goddesses of the moon, Altamira and Lunar. Lunar is the head of the moon, and she birthed the Lunar Crest."

Lord Fuhler demanded, and at this point, the entire amusement drained from Rhode. “I understand that there cannot be two moons in the sky.” Rhode answered, the court members, Lord Fuhler especially, flinched back at this statement. Everybody knew the Luna of a pack was equivalent to the moon, and what he said could simply be interpreted in the sense that it was simply impossible for two queens to revolve around a king. “What are you talking about?” Lord Fuhler asked again, his voice deathly pale and Rhode smirked. “One moon is set to wed the sun, while the other moon faces an imminent eclipse, what moon in this case scenario would be more desperate?” He threw the question to the room, watchi

I can feel Lyros’s curiosity prickling the side of my neck so I sigh. “I drew one for each of us. One for me…. And one for you. That’s us there isn’t it?” Lyros looks towards the ceiling and he frowns lightly. I can feel the cogs of his head working. He nods. “Yes, that’s us alright.” “So why is there one moon then? Did I imagine drawing the second moon?” Lyros shakes his head and turns back to me with some strange bit of knowledge in his eyes. “Maybe. I’m sure you drew it in your head… but maybe you didn’t quite draw it on the ceiling.”

I was not that desperate! Hours passed while I was sleeping, and an intense, hungry growl pulled me out of my sleep. I sat on the bed and looked around. It seemed like it was nighttime but it was still so bright outside, perhaps because of the two moons, which was so interesting to see them on two completely different phases. "What if I am dead? And if I am, is Frankie grieving for me?" He had better be; I was his only closest friend! One was half, while the other one was a quarter moon, but it was so beautiful. Even though Miall did try to explain a few terms to me and the environment, I still had so much to see and learn about this planet. I guess I could always ask Nyleve.

Out of everything that he just said, the words that offended me the most were the fact that he called Hunter's mate the 'rightful Luna', which is utterly disrespectful to me.

He settled into a long vigil, determined to be there for Kaerlia every step of the way on her journey to recovery, no matter how long it took. ~~~ The Moon Palace was a breathtaking sight to behold. Two moons. I was supposed to find Isla or choose a new Luna in two moons. The look on Selene's face flashed before my eyes and I sighed. Moving on with these replacements felt like placing a death sentence on Isla and burying her memories. Defying the council was tempting but it wasn't an option. Surrounding packs could already sense our weakness and one more wrong move, we'll be under attack. Isla was alive somewhere. I knew it but I just couldn't prove it. I needed her back home more than ever. The pressure I was under was threatening to break me. I slowly walked to my room like a man burdened the decisions of others.
