My curiosity sharpened instantly. I glanced between the two, waiting. When I made to stand, Lucas subtly raised a hand, and I froze mid-motion, perched at the edge of my seat. His eyes scanned the screen. Slowly, deliberately. Then his jaw clenched. The anger rose in him like a controlled detonation, silent but unmistakable. “What happened?” I asked, the suspense scraping at my nerves. The quiet was unbearable, too long, too heavy. “It’s Gordon,” Lucas said finally. “He shot his shot.”

We walk past her walking towards the books that were in the back of the store. I turn back to look at her, I get scared as her face looked burned and her face was melting off her skull. I look away and shake my head trying to clear my head. "Hey look, there's a book about astral projection with tips on how to do it." She grabs the book off the shelf and walks over to the crystals and starts to look at various ones. She grabs the ones that look nicest to her, not reading any description on them. I tried to help but she shrugged me off and said "I like these instead."

EVELYN POV I had enough talking to this piece of shit. I gave Badger a look before grabbing the hand gun out of its holster at the waistband of my cargo pants. I aimed the gun at Ricci. “Oh, this is comical,” Ricci laughed. “There’s no way you have the stomach to shoot me. What was it your mother always said?” He paused and looked up as if he were deep in thought. “Oh, that’s right, ‘stay in the shadows.’ So why don’t you go and do that? Eh?”
