Three days. ---

"One month. They want you to start at the beginning of February." One month. Thirty days. Four weeks. That's all the time we had left before everything changed.

"Pack some stuffs. I want you to spend a week in here." Right, a week. A seven day vacation I wished would and could last longer. A week is quite a long vacation, actually, but spending it with you feels like a short period of time. Especially, if the plans I wanted to do with you will not fit for seven days. Or perhaps, I'm not really contented with the time you said. Perhaps, I want longer, like years. Perhaps, I just want you to stay beside me. Perhaps... I don't want you to leave after making a short vacation so euphoric. "Are you sure he's here?" Daniel asked as he lowered his head a little, to see outside the window beside me. I looked over my right side as well.

My brow rises and my heart begins to beat faster, "Days? How many days are we talking about?" "For the next twenty-one days." "Twenty-one days?" I echo and my eyes widen, "that's three weeks!" I get up from my seat and move to the kitchen to grab a bottle of whiskey and a cup from the counter. I don't drink in the morning, but it's too early for all this. "You want me to be your replacement for three weeks and your fiancé of all people is not supposed to find this out. He's not an idiot is he?"

Not 177 days. 24 hours until two hundred enhanced children were activated simultaneously. 24 hours until the world changed forever. 24 hours to save them all. Or lose everything.

"One hundred seventy nine days." "You're counting too?" "Every single one."

seemed to be no longer waiting for him in the same place! Two years. More than seven hundred days and nights.... Was it really too late?

“No. About fifteen years?” “Fourteen years, five months, two weeks, and eight days.” That had him blinking. “That’s precise.” I nodded. “It is. Because do you know how long I’ve known this moment would come? Except, instead of you standing here, I figured it would be Dec?” He cleared his throat. “Fourteen years, five months, two weeks, and seven days?”

"What is it?" Chen had crossed to the bench. He'd been watching her hands more than the screen. "The interval." Elara didn't look up. "Thirty days. Clean. Not thirty-one, not a month boundary. Thirty, measured from a fixed start." "That's a maintenance schedule."

I stated as I ducked down to aim myself through the open window. “Where will you go?” “It's probably best I don’t tell you.” She nodded in agreement. “How long do heats last?” “Around seven to ten days.” I stood up, placed my hands on her shoulders, and then kissed her on the cheek. “Well, you look after yourself and Tristan for me, and I will call you in ten days.”
