Seven days. Hazel stood by the barred window, arms crossed, staring out at the empty lot behind the warehouse. No more pacing like a trapped animal. No more red eyes or hoarse throat from screaming. Seven days. The crying had stopped on day three. The screaming died on day two. Now there was only this — cold, steady breathing and eyes that watched everything.

The timeline was forty-five to sixty days. The work had just begun.

The night they arrived, he even posted something online to make it clear he thought I was copying him. In our seventh year, the gift was the divorce agreement. Seven years, and looking back, the distance between us had grown the entire time without me noticing. Two notifications came through on my phone. One was from Vera that read, “Sean, nine tomorrow morning. Do not forget.” The other was from Austin. “Last night of our seven-day romance. Vera says she wants to make it a night to remember.” My eyes stayed on the paintings for one last moment before I switched off the screen.

"He thinks he’s the best player in this game. He doesn't realize he’s the one who hired the person who’s going to destroy him." ​He walked over to the island and sat between them. He looked at the pages Danny had been annotating. ​"Three months," Scarlett said. ​"Ninety days," Xavier corrected. "And we’re going to use every second of them.”

Eliza's POV Four months. One hundred and twenty-seven days since Scott was led away in handcuffs. One hundred and twenty-seven nights of sleeping in a bed that felt increasingly like mine, in an apartment that had stopped being temporary somewhere along the way. One hundred and twenty-seven mornings of waking up to coffee already brewed and Adam already working, because he rose before dawn and filled the silence with purpose.

"Stop it, Steve.You and I have talked about this.I won't do anything till the night of our wedding and you promised to adhere to it So, don't let this be an argument again." Nora sat, facing her computer.Her insides were already trembling at his next reaction. Why was she even afraid?
