“Luis, I tried reaching you several times, but you didn't answer. My mum called, and I have to go back home for a few days. Please call me after you get this. —Michelle” Luis's heart raced as he immediately pulled his phone from his pocket, the screen illuminating his anxious expression. He scrolled through his notifications, his brows furrowing deeper with each missed call that flashed before him—fifteen calls from Michelle. Panic gripped him. He quickly tapped her number, but he was met with the cold, mechanical tone of a recorded message: “The number you have dialed is switched off.” He tried again, desperation creeping in, but the same robotic response echoed in his ear.

Alexander answered again and I nodded before completely climbing up the stairs and heading to the room. After closing the door o brought out my phone from my pocket and checked it. "Twenty missed calls and fourteen messages from my manager?" I exclaimed in astonishment. I've only been out of reach for five days and I already got twenty missed calls? And fourteen messages from her. It wasn't even up to five days because I told her not to call me through out the weekend because I thought I was going to be back on Monday, but because of everything that had happened I wasn't able to make it, and she began calling from around past twelve on Monday.

I’m glad nobody needed me this weekend. That's the moment it occurs to me that my phone has been unnaturally quiet for almost two days.
