He was washing vegetables, back turned towards Neal. It seems like the man didn't acknowledge his presence even after he cleared his throat.

I picked up my champagne flute, which was filled with apple juice. A few minutes later, the food came out. I had the Coconut Curry Chicken, with many steamed veggies and Naan, a type of bread resembling pita. I dug into my food, and it was delicious. I glanced over at Jarren’s plate and saw that he had Steak with mushrooms. It looked really good. He had his head turned, talking to Garret, and I thought about just taking a piece but decided against it.

She let out a frustrated groan as she looked up in the shelf and saw it there. “Just great!” she muttered to herself. She had thought searching for the spice was bad enough, but finding it in the shelf was even worse because that’s where she hated most in the kitchen. She let out a huff and stretched out her arm to reach for the jar, but failed miserably. She muttered some curse words before giving it another try. Standing up on her toes, she tried to reach for the jar a second time, her fingers barely touching it. Then she felt a hard chest pressed against her back, Ian’s fingers slightly brushed her before gracefully bringing down the spice jar.

I went about my designated work thinking of nothing but what I needed to get done and the rhythm of the kitchen. “Nova!” yelled one of the kitchen porters “The Alpha wants to see you in his office now!” My head whipped up at this request and everyone in the kitchen was staring at me. With shaking hands, I untied my apron. Everyone was staring at me, and I was so nervous I couldn’t quite get the knot at first. Third try lucky, I freed myself and hurried up the two flights of stairs to the Alpha's office.
