“If only you’d put as much effort into being a proper woman as you do into tackling people, maybe you’d—” “That’s enough,” Jeremy snapped, his voice ringing out like a slap. The room fell silent. He looked Stephanie dead in the eye. “Alexandra is beautiful. She’s strong, she’s brilliant, and she’s the kindest, most caring person I’ve ever met. She’s a champion, and she’s a better woman than anyone who tries to tear her down.” Stephanie’s mouth opened, then closed. Thomas cleared his throat, breaking the tension. “Let’s just eat.”

She turned her head abruptly, letting her eyes focus ahead. “That is too much to ask from me.” She finally whispered. I knew it too. But I was going to have her. She was mine, even if she remembered nothing from the past. I wondered what her current name was.

They began talking amongst themselves before turning to me with concerned looks. One of the doctors said gently. "We think it would be best for you to receive proper care at a psychiatric facility." I knew what he was implying. He didn't need to say it out loud. They thought that I was crazy and hurting myself. I should have felt angry or sad or anything at all, but I felt nothing. I just lay there staring at them blankly, the words barely making sense in my mind. Brax stood up from his chair. "No, she's not crazy! She didn't do this to herself," Brax protested.

But the moment she saw him, it was like she couldn't breathe. He was so handsome. His long blonde hair looked like spun gold, and his eyes were a brilliant blue that shined even more against his skin.
