The flower was back. No — flowers, plural. Five of them now. Each bloom a different color. Crimson. Violet. Cerulean. Pale gold. Ink black. All curling from different books, petals growing like they’d always belonged there. Sea Glass Psalms. The Edge of Dusk. Forgotten Bodies. Every book Aria had buried a piece of herself in — every one of them blooming with impossible color. A spectrum of memories. Of lovers.

As I perused the books, I could feel Aidan’s gaze on me. The shop, much like the one downstairs, boasted an impressive selection. These were books to be enjoyed in the coffee lounge, not purchased or taken home. A smile tugged at my lips as I reached the romance novel section. So, Well Thumbed had these too. I wondered if they had hidden gems, perhaps something I hadn’t read or that Uncle Alex’s book club, Bound To Please, hadn’t discovered yet.

Greta and Gabby made their way to Page Turner’s Bookstore just down the street from the Blue Moon Inn. Once inside the warmth of the large shop, Greta was surprised to see a bright modern shop, which included not only a metaphysical section, but my children’s section, too. With soft upbeat music playing in the background, it didn’t take long to find the shopkeeper chatting away to a rather wild looking dog by a fireplace.

The room was also, unexpectedly and completely, full of books. Every wall that was not a window had shelves, floor to ceiling, built-in rather than assembled, the kind that suggested the apartment had been configured around the books rather than the other way around. Fiction and non-fiction shelved together without obvious system. Spines facing out. Some with markers in them. Many with the cracked spines of books that had been read multiple times and had stopped pretending to be new.

The door to her apartment was open. ​But Julian and Leo weren't there. ​She looked across the hall. The door to Apartment 4B—the home of Christina Wilder—was wide open. "Could you recommend something good to read? My apprentice here was new and she wishes to give your book a try." Eugene said and when the Dryad heard of that, she turned her gaze at Abby. "Well, then, if that is the case, let me bring you to our best-seller section." She said and gestured for them to follow her. The attendant took then at the forefront corner of the shop and when they walked past a standee saying 'Elle Antoni's best selling books' Abby stopped on her track. She slowly made her way towards the pile of books placed next to the standee and took one from it.
