Novel & Cerita A Christmas Story Movies

"I left you for two and a half minutes and you've already become a Barbie for Alice to dress." "I'm made of plastic. It's fantastic!" I shot back, earning another chuckle as he grabbed the remote to press play on "It's A Wonderful Life." Christmas was only a few days away after all, and I had been forcing Edward to watch all my favorite Christmas movies. We had already seen all the Tim Allen Santa Clause movies, as well as National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, and Christmas with the Kranks. Now we were getting deeper into some of the classics. Alice and Edward stiffened at the same time, and as the mood shifted with a sudden urgency, Jasper too stiffened. "What?" I found my voice and laid m

Maggie wondered; how much she might have in common with her niece. Kathy left the girls to pick a movie while she got the treats she promised ready. “Would you like to pick the movie?” Maggie asked Eve. “Mommy always watches The Grinch with me at Christmas time. Do you like The Grinch?” Eve asked Maggie sweetly. Holly and Maggie watched The Grinch every year during the holidays when they were children. Maggie still did even now that Holly wasn’t there to watch the film with her.

Nico says, crossing his arms over his chest, “that doesn’t even matter – that’s breakfast trivia –“ “Fine!” Frankie says, turning to him again. “Favorite Christmas movie?” Nico scowls, looking away. “That is such bullshit,” he murmurs. “He stopped watching Christmas movies like the rest of us, because we grew up.” “Bammmmmbi?” Frankie says, turning to me with a grin and resting his chin in his hands, expectant. “Trick question,” I say quietly, a little pleased with myself. “He likes to watch The Goonies at Christmas, because Damon got it for him one year as a gift. And it’s the only movie he had for a really long time.”

“And before you go filling your head up with all mambo pambo stuff, I’m more than happy being the manager, it’s good for me, Immi so don’t go feeling all guilty and shit on me. Okay?” I merely nod, I still feel guilty. Whilst he will be working his butt off, I will be spending Christmas Eve with the love of my life all snuggled up and with Kitten at the Lake house with a fire on, Hallmark movies, some corny Christmas movies like The Kranks, it’s one of my favorites, oh and Santa Claus. I just adore that movie.

I stroked her wiry coat until she calmed and laid down in my lap. The rest of the car ride to Gretchen's house was quiet. When we got there, we got some snacks together and settled in on the couch, me in the middle and my two best friends on either side. Carol lay on the floor in front of me. We chose an array of Christmas movies, from the classics to some of the newer ones that seemed sure to become classics. Abigail banned me from watching White Christmas. I wasn’t mad about it. I’d watched it too many times the last time I was upset about a guy.

Isabel avoided the rum pound cake and brandied fruit cake, they were pretty strong by themselves. There were no cosmos, but they did have a cranberry and orange flourless cake that was remarkable. Nancy had three servings, she said it was not the same as the Mink's drinks, but it was good. One of the topics that came up in conversation was favorite Christmas movies. We talked about how "the big holiday movie" used to be a Christmas tradition in some households, but with smart TVs and every movie available on demand for streaming, the charm of that family tradition was greatly diminished. That led to a discussion of the various "Christmas Carol" movies. The consensus choice was the 1984 versi

“Don’t be sorry, hon. You guys can kiss all you want, just so long as I don’t see either of you naked, it’s all good.” “Promise,” I said. “I’m going to get drinks, then we have to watch A Christmas Story.” “What’s that?” Kayla asked. “You’ve never seen A Christmas Story?” I asked in horror. “It’s like a tradition.” “We didn’t have a lot of those, baby,” Alex revealed. “Well, then we’re starting one tonight. Lily’s a little too young, but we’re not, so we’re going to watch the magic of one of the best Christmas movies of all time.”

And for the first time in weeks, it didn’t feel like something was missing. That week passed in a beautiful blur of cozy chaos. They made Christmas cookies and got flour in their hair and frosting on the cabinets. They went on late-night drives with steaming hot chocolate and cracked windows to let in the cold air, music turned up just loud enough to drown out the world. They curled up on the couch with cheesy holiday movies, half-watching, half-kissing, trying not to get caught by her dad. Jaxon stayed over late every night, and her dad—gruff as he was—didn’t complain. He made

So, I do the next best thing to be in the Christmas mood. I go to the bar and I pull out a bottle, dust clinging to the glass. I make popcorn, the buttery smell filling the kitchen. And when I curl back on the couch with both, I flick through the channels until I land on Home Alone. The one movie guaranteed to make me laugh when nothing else will. I pour myself a glass, clink it against the air, and whisper, “Merry Christmas to me.” The words barely leave my lips before a sound cuts through the room.

I learned to be thankful and quiet. That acceptance made me hate Christmas. Love songs made my skin crawl. The lights under our tree looked like glass eyes. The ribbons on the presents were traps. Every year, the house tuned itself to cheer and I pretended to enjoy it. The twenty-fifth became the night when a new kind of cold touched my bones. It was the day the truth had crawled out at me like an animal. It was the day I had learned how much of my life had been decided by other hands.
