The ritual chamber began to crack.
Drake stared at his hands, then at me, disbelief etched across his face. “That wasn’t supposed to be possible.”
“No,” I said, lifting my head. “It wasn’t.”
The floor split open with a thunderous crack, a fissure tearing straight through the heart of the chamber. Wind roared upward from below, cold and ancient.
From the darkness beneath us, something moved.
Not rising.
Waiting.
Drake backed away slowly, eyes locked on the裂 opening in the stone. “This changes everything,” he muttered. “You’ve just invited something far worse.”
