After all, he depended on Jessica to keep squeezing money out of Mom. Jessica said, "All that studying made you stupid. What's the point? You're not as pretty as I am, and Dad and Mom never liked you anyway. This easy life you're living is only happening because I gave it up, so enjoy it while you can. It won't last long." Later, she rummaged through my things like she owned the place. I thought it made sense since in my previous life, this had been her bedroom. She looked through everything and clicked her tongue, grumbling, "Seriously? You don't even know how to enjoy life. What kind of useless stuff are these? All you do is cling to these dumb books."

"Ever." "Why not?" "Because that job's shit." His voice came out muffled against my shoulder. "I'll give you all the books you want." I smiled down at him and something inside my chest tightened at the sight of him. "I work because I want to," I said. "And besides, there's only so much money in the world, and so many books." "I just don't want my girl to exhaust herself. Is that such a bad thing?" he asked, finally opening his eyes which were glazed over with sleep.

Catherine felt like she was in a dream. No, a nightmare. Everything hurt, from the tips of her hair to the toes of her feet and everywhere in between. It was physical. Emotional. Mental. Yet she could not move to bend with the pain, to ease the pressure on her chest, or the choking in her throat. But Catherine knew she was alive. Where there was pain, there was life. Regardless of knowing this, it did not change the level of hurt. Catherine opened her eyes to a view of her life back on Earth. Only it was Cathy in control of her body, and her eyes widened.

Thrillers and horrors are my go-to book, but I need something light-hearted and funny to read with these nightmares happening more often just now. There was many for me to choose from. I don’t mind a good romance from time to time, something I will never tell anyone. I looked around and decided on You Me Everything, which would do. It was light, funny, and a little romantic too. I paid for it before heading out. I decided I couldn’t be bothered cooking tonight. I stopped by the pizza shop, grabbed a pizza to take home, and grabbed some beers at my local shop on the way back.

After the engagement party, life seemed to return to normal, or at least, that was what it looked like. However, Greg clung to me like a shadow I couldn’t shake. That day after work, the moment I stepped out of the office, I saw him charging toward me like a man possessed, clutching a wooden carving. It was the same wooden carving I had spent months painstakingly carving, one stroke at a time, as a gift for him, representing my love. Now, his face was unshaven, his eyes wild and exhausted, and he shouted, “Zoe, I know I was wrong! Syd lied to me! Can we start over?”

Naomi said as she stood to her feet and reached for her handbag. Marie stood to her feet, approached Naomi and gave her a comforting hug. “It will be fine hun.” She assured and Naomi nodded without even looking into her eyes. The doctor reached for a book in one of her drawers and handed it to Naomi. It was an introduction to motherhood book. It contained all that Naomi needed to know about Pregnancy and Babies in general. “I’m sure it will be of help.” Doctor Marie said. Naomi smiled. “It will, Thanks.” She made her way out of the hospital, got into her car, started the engine and drove to nowhere in particular. She was driving but her mind was far away. She needed to be alone, she needed t
