Knew the tightening of her flesh and the pounding thud behind her eyes, the short gasps and quiet hallucinations were all baggage she’d agreed to carry when, molten poker in hand, she’d melted the sobbing flesh of her beloved’s wounds.
And the vision of beautiful Saint Rose standing before her, the crown of spikes lodged in her skull. Then kneeling, moving close. The scent of punctured flesh and dried blood filling her nose.
