And a tiny footed creature walked back and forth just beyond the bars, taunting me. I shook from a wave of cold. Or maybe fear. I couldn’t be sure of much of anything anymore.

“I feel it. In your whispers. In the way you look at me.” The hall grew quieter. “Fear is not weakness,” I continued. “It happens when people face something they don’t understand.” My fingers brushed lightly over my collarbone. The mark responded. A soft warmth spread under my skin. Not blazing. Not violent. Just steady. A faint glow that only those close could see clearly… but everyone felt something. A shift in the air. Lyra’s lips tightened. She had expected tears. Or anger. Or excuses. I gave her none.

I started moving towards the door and looked from the hole in the door to outside. I stood stunned and took no position when the sound of paws stopped and it made my body cold. It looked like something very cold stood behind me or I was standing in front of the ice-hill. The blood circulation in my body increases due to fear, but it is as cold as my body starts to freeze. I lost hold onto my body and was about to fall on the floor. My eyes are half closed from the cold and I can't see anything clearly.

Very soft and mild. The faint noise hung there, pulling at every instinct I had, leaving my skin prickling with sudden, unexplained dread. What was that?

But deep down, I already know it: the truth will not come on its own. And the shadow… perhaps lives under the same roof as those I love. Fear is there. Raw. Primitive. But another sensation now runs through it. Cold. Sharp.

He stood up slowly, wiping the sweat off his head, and grabbed a shirt, throwing it on as he made his way out of his room. The hallways were dimly lit and very silent. Each of his steps echoed across the hall, dragging a sense of unease behind him like a shadow. The mansion felt colder than usual, the weight of everything sent chills down his spine, and the fear played a huge role in his sudden cold.

Watching. I could feel it pressing in, curling around me like an unseen force, suffocating yet intangible. My breath came in shallow gasps, each inhale filling my lungs with the taste of dust and fear. The cold slithered over my skin like skeletal fingers, wrapping around me in a suffocating grip.

Why is it getting cold all of a sudden? I wrapped my arms around myself, rubbing the cold shivers on my bare arms. Maybe somebody left the door opened? Or maybe they opened the air conditioning? But why would they open the air conditioning when it's already cold here? It would be worse than death. I recognized the words in my head as another shiver ran up my spine. This time, because of fear. Maybe cold won't do any bad. ... Wrong. This much cold could freeze anybody! Even a polar bear. Slowly, the coldness started increasing like many air conditioners were opened at the same time. I shivered and scrunched up like a ball.

Chapter 6 Elena's pov Fear. The sort of fear that torments all your brain cells like a tornado. It tampers with your living being so much that your body freeze, paralysing you on the spot. I can feel all the hair on my body rise as my skin itches, but I couldn't run. I struggled- my body in agonizing pain as I try to lung towards his body. But all cells in my body failed me, at the same time I could feel my body being angled back on the floor.

Tuesday, April 19, 2022 5: 10 p.m. I’m on my counter, receiving orders again, and looking here and there, if he is here or not. I’m too afraid of him. I’m thinking about him all the time that why he is here. I can’t focus on my work and my body is still shivering. My hands are shaking while writing orders. But I have to do work. I can’t leave. I fear that if I go to home now and if he is here, he will follow me up to the home and I don’t want it to happen.
