I replied lightly, lifting my chin just enough to meet his gaze. A mistake. Cassian's eyes narrowed with interest. Wait… Why did he agree to this alliance again? Around us, the air shifted. I stroked her head and said patiently, "Honey, studying here is not suitable for you. You are so much smarter than the kids here." She beamed and reluctantly got out of the car. I watched as his bottom lip trembled slightly. “But Luna—” “I’m not your luna anymore.” I gave him a reassuring smile. “She’s not going to be punished.” I heard Darren’s voice behind me, but I refused to turn and look at him. How infuriating … to have the moment we just had and to have him spoil it already. “She is being brought back as my mate. As soon as Serena heard my voice, she lifted her head up and cast her all time irritated look like I was the reason all this was happening. But she wasn't important right now. My eyes drifted back to Adrian who pointed at a chair beside him and I slowly perched myself at the edge of the seat, not missing Serena's warning look which I ignored. “Do you believe me now?” I was at a loss for words. My mouth opened but I still couldn't believe what I was seeing. Adrian was actually the Lycan King, not some fifty year old grandpa like Jackson had said. Or could it be that he was the Lycan King's son? No, he was actually wearing the King's crown.

A few seconds had barely passed after I agreed when the door opened and a tall, lanky man with shrewd eyes and shaggy hair confidently strolled in, stopping short when he spotted me and the Lycan King. “Damian, wh-what is…?” The man stammered, his eyes bouncing from me to Damian. The Lycan King casually slid up next to me, placing a hand on my waist and grinned. “Lucas, this is Aviana, my Luna!”

The King nodded, pleased with Marly’s words. He pulled out the ceremonial knife, raising it for all to see. He repeated a blessing for the new bond between Marly and myself, before stepping forward and placing a slice in my palm.
