“ Meara!” The whispers started again, soft but notable. I tensed, my eyes snapping open. I scanned the field, but there was no one in sight. The sound seemed to come from the tree itself, from the rustling of its leaves. I pressed my palms against the rough bark and closed my eyes, focusing on the whispers. " Come... find... me..." The words were faint but distinct. My heart raced. Was I losing my mind, or was there something more to these whispers? I stood up, brushing the dirt off my jeans, and took a few steps back. The whispers grew louder, more insistent.

I clenched my jaw and held still. Silence followed. “Who—” “Hi, doll.” A voice floated through the air, coming from everywhere and nowhere. I spun around, trying to find where it was coming from. But the voice echoed around the room…it was definitely coming from speakers hidden all over. “Are you scared?” he asked again, and I forced my face to relax. No. I can’t look scared. I can’t look weak in front of whoever this freak is. I’m Sienna. Yes, I am.

Her VOWs were now fulfilled by herself. In her unconsciousness, Arika found herself locked in a warehouse that was surrounded by the deep forest. He's crying. It never surprises me because I have seen him cry. Last week, Effie and the girls had the boys watch a Japanese anime movie called A Silent Voice on N*****x, where a new girl gets bullied by a boy and other kids because she is deaf, and the boy tries to make amends later in the movie.

I could see the tenderness in her gaze, and something in me stirred—an odd mix of gratitude and curiosity.

If I slept, I'd see my parents again. I resisted, fighting the seductive pull of darkness with all my might. I knew it was lying to me, but I couldn't speak. It felt like I was choking. I could only run—run... Just as the suffocating sensation threatened to consume me, a beam of light tore through the darkness like a sword. I, too, overcame the heaviness in my chest. For the first time, I heard my own voice, clear and true. "Harvey... help me."

Silence returns. But it is no longer suffocating. It is shelter.
