He stood behind me with one arm raised, and his eyes stared blankly ahead.
I didn’t understand what was happening, but Marcus and Ronan didn’t hesitate. Marcus jumped the other vampire and pushed Lord Theo to the ground.
“Give him another order,” Marcus told me.
“Drop the whip,” I said, and Joachim’s hand spasmed open. The whip fell to the ground.
“I think we found your vampiric power,” Ronan said. “Great timing, Clara.”
“I don’t understand,” I said.
“You have a vampire power,” Marcus said, from where he had wrestled Theo onto his stomach and was working to hold him still. “I’d say command voice. Use it on this one, would you? He’s strong.”
