I reached out, my hand trembling as I touched the glowing book. The moment my fingers brushed the cover, a surge of energy rushed through me, and I gasped. The voice that had been calling my name now filled my mind, clearer than ever before. “You are the key, Aurelia… the heir to the bloodline… the one destined to awaken the Nine Wolves…”

Ariana's heart was racing, as if the words on the pages would twist and re-form. The glow grew larger, illuminating her face with a soft, otherworldly light. She could hardly breathe, for this thing was happening before her eyes as ancient symbols shifted, forming legible text that seemed to be directed to her. "To awaken what lies within, face the past and conquer the curse…" Her hand was still attached to the book, its heat intensifying, almost pulsing as though it were alive. She felt some strange tugging sensation in her chest, something deep and powerful stirring to life.

1. The Summoning Stone Awakens The sky over the capital dimmed before dawn. Not with clouds. With omens. Blood Awakening Chapter 18: Say it, Mari In the darkness, two pairs of silver eyes glimmered like a pale full moon, staring at them intently, burning them like the fires of hell. Their hearts went wild and the pounding is ringing non-stop. “I can take these two,” Sebastian uttered arrogantly, full of self-confidence and ready to attack. The two wolves growled in a low tone, suppressing their anger, but are ready to attack any moment. One wrong move is all that it takes.

“I have never seen your magic, Eli, and I look forward to witnessing you in battle.” A quick breath escaped Eli’s nose. “You won’t be disappointed. In fact, I will be the one to carry and protect you, Your Highness.” Arth watched as Elicantris raised one hand into the air and called, “Awaken.” White light flashed above her hand, hurting Arth’s eyes that he had to cover them. When the light slowly faded, he uncovered her eyes, only to see an ancient golden book; flaring in white flames. Elicantris smiled, her face shone by the glowing light. “Surprised, Your Highness? I bet you’ve never seen an Ascension Summoning before …”

Okay, this had to be a joke of some sort. “What is awakening?” She blinked, looking genuinely confused. “You did the ritual, didn't you?” I shook my head, certain the confused look on her face mirrored mine. “The book,” she pointed. “You spoke the word… you placed your hand on the mark. You activated the summoning.” I shook my head, still trying to wrap my head around this. “I just read something from that book. I didn’t know it meant anything.” Elarien floated a bit closer, but stayed at a cautious distance. “Well regardless, you did awaken me, the book is a catalyst to my soul.” she turned around as if taking in the room.

Light surged upward. Runes flared fully for the first time in centuries. Plot Thirteen awakened. “You will work here,” Inferno said to me. “With Seraphine. With Eldric. You will recreate the bloodcraft.” Fear tried to rise. And failed. “I will,” I said. Not because I was unafraid. Because I was chosen. Far off, a bird chirped sharp and alert. And somewhere beyond the Haven’s borders, something old felt the awakening and turned its gaze toward Lake Tahoe. The war had not begun. But the foundation had.

Five years since that night on the forest road. I had woken two days later in a strange infirmary bed. Bandages wrapped tight around my abdomen. An IV line in my arm. Alpha Kai of Crestwood Pack had found the wrecked car during a routine border sweep. He had carried me to his healers himself. I remembered crying in his arms, begging him to save my baby first. But the look in his eyes told me everything I was too afraid to hear. There was no baby. The trauma cracked something open inside me. My wolf, sealed away since childhood by some magic I still didn't understand, finally woke. She was fierce and protective, flooding me with senses I'd never known I lacked.

And now I'm ready for whatever comes next. I turn toward the tunnel exit. Toward the surface. Toward the people waiting. Toward my future. But as I take the first step, something shifts.
