Callie The park was deceptively quiet that afternoon. Sunlight filtered through the trees, casting dappled patterns across the walking paths, but every cheerful note of children playing or joggers passing felt distant, like it belonged to someone else’s world. I walked slowly, one hand brushing along the fence lining the park, my other hand tightly gripping Grayson’s. “Are you sure this is a good idea?” I asked, voice low. Even with him beside me, I felt exposed—like walking through a minefield in plain sight.

We walked a few blocks, the city humming around us—honking cars, fried food, hot pavement. But the second we stepped into the park, it all faded. There, it smelled like cut grass and possibilities. Henry made a beeline for the swings, and I followed at my own pace. His laughter rang out, bright and wild. I sat on a bench, soaking it in. No pressure. No past. Just this moment. “He’s a sweet boy,” someone said beside me. I turned. A woman in her thirties stood there, warm smile, chestnut ponytail, toddler clinging to her leg.

I grabbed the book I was still reading and my jacket from where he had tossed it earlier and followed him out. Boston Common was a place to be. Calm, serene, and warm enough to make even strangers fall in love. I was grateful to be here with Oliver, and we talked about a few things while we lay on the mat, staring at the blue sky. After a while, we took a walk in the park as well, where we ran into a few couples who were there sightseeing; some recognised us, and others didn't. The ones who recognised us didn't overstep their boundaries, and we appreciated them.

“Seriously, I’m surprised Dale hasn’t found the time to give you that tour.” We passed through a door that brought us back outside, but it wasn’t the same way we had come.Where we stood now was a field of lush, nearly trimmed grass, flower beds, trees, and fountains. For a minute, I thought I had died and found myself in paradise until I heard Janine’s voice again. “Welcome to the Library Park.” She smiled broadly.

It was a cloudy day or else, in would have had every reason to regret my decision to aimlessly walk around. I ended up in the city. I could really use a drink after what I had just gone through. I don't even want to think about how far the walk was. Sophia had given me some money since I hadn't come here with any. I bought a drink and continued my journey. Eventually, I ended up at the park. It was cloudy and windy. The perfect combination. Taking a seat next to the pregnant woman, I noticed she hsd a book in her hands. Hmmm, I'd really kill for a book right now.

Right in front of the park was a large intricately designed stone that had the park’s name boldly written on it. Killian walked through the low open gate first, before I followed suit. The whole park was empty, which gave it a serene atmosphere. The wind was mild and it felt warm on my skin. The park was filled with green trees, flowers and benches which had lamp posts beside them. As we walked further in, I noticed a group of people, huddled up in a circle and they all seemed deep in a conversation. Killian and I walked up to them, and all their eyes turned to us. They began to walk together, and as they walked, the old man told the boy stories of kindness and compassion. Samantha and Andrew were out walking in the park, enjoying the beautiful spring day. They had just finished a new book, and they were discussing its themes of love and friendship. "It's amazing how the smallest acts of kindness can have such a big impact," Samantha said. "I'll never forget the story of the old man and the boy in the park." Andrew nodded. "That story really resonated with me," he said. "It's a great reminder that we can all make a difference, no matter how small."

It seemed like a nice place to cool off, so I made a mental note to go there before I made my escape from Eden City. In what seemed like half an hour later, Adam maneuvered the car into a big park where hundreds of cars were parked. "There isn't always enough space inside the centre, people are liters crawling all over the place" She explained. "So this park is reserved for all cars. C'mon, let's go, it's just a block away.' We got down as soon as Adam killed the engine. As we took few steps ahead, Sara looked back and saw Adam still waiting by the car.

We've had our ups and downs but it was all worth it, I got the man of my dreams, a beautiful family and the peace of mind I always craved.
