THE GIRL NEXT DOOR ISN'T INNOCENT!
It looked… fake.
I looked up slowly, my heart racing. Before I could even say a word, Miss Kendra snatched the paper out of my hand. “I’m sorry, Abigail,” she said quickly. “But there’s nothing I can do. The grades have already been recorded.”
Her tone changed sweetly, almost too sweet. Like she was trying to sound caring, but it came off rehearsed. My instincts screamed that something was wrong. I could feel it in the air.
Still, I didn’t argue further. I just nodded slowly, pretending to accept her explanation. “Alright,” I said softly and stood up. My legs felt weak, but I forced myself to walk to the door.
