I hoped they wouldn’t be annoying; I’d never had a neighbor before. I twist the key inside the doorknob and step inside. My eyes scan the space quickly, making sure it had the basic things, a studio with a kitchen, bed, and living room. All fully furnished and relatively clean. Being a werewolf meant things weren’t ever really clean to us, not with our noses picking up every underlying scent. I shut the door behind me, dropped my backpack, and opened the duffel bag to let Blaze hop out. He looks around before looking up at me, as if asking if this was our new home. The silent question tears at my chest a bit.

One that threatened to overpower everyone else in the room before it started to settle down. In the corner the wolf who led this creature to the warehouse looked on with terrified eyes. He had heard that humans who were marked by a werewolf would transition into a wolf, but he didn’t realize it would happen with other creatures as well! As the new creature stood from the bed the wolf shook in fear. Not a vampire, not a wolf… This was an Abomination.

I nod and try to listen to what she is saying, but my growing excitement blocks my mind. I force myself to join back the conversation and we fall into comfortable talk about everything. The dark fluid spilled out across the concrete, and the creatures inside—the twisted, grafted abominations—began to twitch. Nomo stopped. He watched as one of the creatures opened its eyes. They weren't violet, and they weren't red. They were a milky, sightless white, leaking a black ichor that hissed as it touched the floor. The thing let out a sound that wasn't a scream or a growl, but a distorted, multi-tonal vibration that shattered the glass panels of the nearby offices. “Somito, tell me you’re clear!” Nomo shouted, his hand shaking as he raised his tablet to send the emergency burst.
