"Who's up for a stroll?" Lucas joked, though his face was pale.
"Steady as we go," Gabriel said, taking the lead. The bridge swayed ominously with each step, the creaks of the weathered wood echoing in the silence.
"Almost there," Amelia encouraged, her voice betraying none of the fear she felt. Halfway across, a plank snapped under Elijah's foot, sending splinters flying.
