Dala ng matinding kahirapan, inutusan si Minggay ni Mama Linda na nakawin ang korona ng Mahal Na Birhen ng Villapureza upang may pambili sila ng makakain. Subalit, sa kalagitnaan ng tangkang pagnanakaw, nahuli siya ni Father Tonyo na siyang namamahala ng simbahan kung saan nakalagak ang istatwa ng Mahal Na Birhen at ang korona nito. Subalit sa hindi inaasahang pangyayari, sa halip na ipakulong, inalok pa ng pari na tumira si Minggay sa kanila. Pumayag naman si Minggay dahil sawa na siya sa hirap. Pagod na siyang maging palaging gutom. Ngunit ang hindi niya alam, ito pala ay may malagim na kapalit.
