The creamy sauce and tender chicken stared at me as I picked up my fork to eat. But before I could take a bite, I noticed the woman's sly smirk. "Oh, dear, have you heard the news?" she asked, her voice filled with fake concern. I lifted my gaze. "What news?" The woman leaned in, her lips curled into a smirk. "Your beloved Alpha Adonis is now married." My fork clattered to the plate, and my hands went limp. My brain froze briefly as it processed what she had just said. No matter how hard I tried, my brain would not respond.

The space between us was too small, too charged. Halfway through the movie, Julia Stiles was yelling at Heath Ledger, and Adam was laughing quietly beside me. I turned to look at him—just for a second—and found him already looking at me. Our eyes locked. His laughter faded. My heart stuttered. I tore my gaze away, stuffing popcorn into my mouth as if it could block the rush of heat crawling up my neck. “Don’t tell me you’re tearing up,” Adam teased gently, his voice softer than the words.

And so it goes, for what feels like an eternity during those first ten minutes of the movie. Everyone's just passing the dang popcorn around like it's a hot potato. And being stuck in the middle, I'm starting to get seriously ticked off. "What are you going to do to her?" I whisper in Adam's ear, my voice filled with concern as I glance over at the girl in question. Athena may not be my favorite person, but that doesn't mean I want anything bad to happen to her. And with Adam being the unpredictable psycho that he is, who knows what he's capable of.

Adam glared at the director and said, “What? How am I supposed to film with an empty stomach? I haven’t even had breakfast yet.” An obvious trace of anger flashed across the director’s eyes as he gritted his teeth and his expression clearly changed. ‘If it were any other actor, I would’ve long but given them a taste of my mind. However, this is Adam we’re talking about, the protagonist of this movie. Plus, he’s still a famous internet celebrity at the moment with many fans following him. So, even if I’m angry, I can’t actually scold him.’

Annoyance, sharp and jagged, was winning by a landslide. Adam was sprawled on the emerald velvet sofa, hunched over like a scavenger picking at a carcass. Crrr-unch. The sound of him biting into that green apple was deafening, the wet, rhythmic chewing echoing off the high, ornate ceilings. He didn't look away, his eyes locked on mine with a greasy sort of challenge as juice escaped the corner of his mouth and dribbled down his chin. He didn't look like a member of a feared mafia dynasty; he looked like a pig at a trough.
