Astrid’s POV My heart is racing, crawling up my throat like a rejected meal, making me feel like I’m going to collapse on the street. I look at my watch again, seeing that it’s fifteen minutes before eight, which is the time of my first class for the day. And yet here I am still, power-walking to Delta Kappa, the fraternity house where my boyfriend stays at. “Hey, Astrid!” one of the frat boys from Delta Kappa greets me as he sees me running up the porch. I forgot his name completely, but I remember him to be one of the friendly ones. “Cade’s still inside.”

Rocky whispers, smiling still. “No,” I firmly decline, I don't want anything to do with this man, that one night of outlandish was enough. Mr crazy comes forward and introduces himself, seemingly normal when he speaks. “Hi, I'm Adrian. Adrian Moretti.” I don't shake his hand, I merely stare at it and then lift my gaze to his. His eyes met mine and he smiled softly. "We did everything in the wrong order." A chuckle passed both our lips thinking about it. "But I guess that's what life is. Unpredictable." He continued. Martin sighed, his gaze returning to the expansive horizon. "What were you thinking about?" she asked. "Hmm...you really want to know?" Their eyes locked, Martin's mischievous spirit glinting in his gaze. "Of course. That's why I'm asking, after all," she responded with a playful smirk. A grin tugged at the corners of Martin's lips. "Well, I was thinking about you." "Me?" Adrienne's heart skipped a beat, undeniably pleased. "Yeah. I was marveling at how beautifully stubborn you can be," Martin teased.

She pauses before continuing, “His name was Aiden. He died in a car accident. But he was my everything. He was my best friend and I think he was my true mate to be honest. I feel a connection with Chase, but… my relationship with him isn’t anything like the one I had with Aiden. I don’t know if I want to be connected with Chase forever.” My eyebrows furrow as I hear her talk, but I realize, the issue Marinette and Chase have is that they’re opposites. The differences between them are vast and that’s why they seem to bicker and disagree. They’re as different as day and night. Marinette and Genevieve continue to talk as I’m preoccupied by my own thoughts as we walk.
