Just then, we heard little footsteps approaching and bringing our make out session to an abrupt end just in time to see Cassy standing by the door way with her stuff bunny in hand. I pushed back on my feet as I made to go to her while she stood there rubbing sleep away from her eyes. “I can’t sleep!” “Why can’t you sleep little pumpkin” Alex said, picking her up and into his arm. “mother forgot to tell us our bedtime story”. Alex fake a gasp as he stare back at me. Unlike her brothers, Cassy likes her bedtime stories and sometimes have a hard time sleeping if I don’t tell it to her. “How about I tell you that story pumpkin” Cassy gave a curt nod and he took her back to their room. Madison After dinner, I supervised bath time while Hazel cleaned up the kitchen. Ethan splashed enthusiastically, creating tidal waves that soaked my sweater. "Mommy, can we read three stories tonight?" "One story," I countered, wrapping him in a towel. "It's a school night." "Two stories?" "One and a half." "What's half a story?" "You'll find out." I got him into pajamas and tucked him into bed, selecting his current favorite book about a dragon who was afraid of his own fire.

He seemed just woken up. I stood up and lifted him. I slowly rocked him, put his head between my neck. "Not yet, Baby. Go to sleep again." "I can't, Mommy. I miss Daddy's bedtime stories." He murmured. "I'll just tell you a story." I sighed. "What bedtime story do you want?" "It's about the King and Queen. The King left his Queen in the war so the enemy got the Queen." What the hell. "Baby, why-" I stopped speaking when the door opened. He was surprised to see us. Reid dropped from my grasp and ran towards Wright.

I said with a small laugh. The remaining nighttime was spent in bedtime routines and warm baths, in stories and toothbrushes. Mirabel insisted on one of Clinton’s old bedtime tales — something about a crocodile and a mango — and I fumbled my way through the story while they giggled under their covers. When they finally dozed off, I stayed a while longer in the hallway, just watching them sleep. Japheth curled toward the window. Jake, hugging his teddy. Mirabel, one leg dangling off the bed as if dreaming of her little bride walk.

“I want to know….” He pecked my lips, smiling warmly. “There was a time when prophecies were told in tales. Are you willing to listen to a boring bedtime story?” I giggled, snuggling closer to his warmth, not needing a duvet to keep the cold away. “I’d like that.”

"Story time!" Lyra demanded, clutching her stuffed wolf. "The one about the King!" she requested. Alex sat in the rocking chair between their beds, stretching his long legs out. Zara leaned against the doorframe, listening. "Again?" Alex asked. "You know how it ends." he told them.

Out of the mouths of babes. "Time's up, sailors," I announced, reaching for the towels. "All hands on deck!" Getting them dried, dressed in pajamas, and settled for story time was its own special chaos. By the time I'd read "Goodnight Moon" (Alexander's choice) and "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" (Ethan's), both boys were finally yawning. "One more story," Ethan pleaded, his eyes already drooping. "Tomorrow," I promised, tucking the blanket around him. "It's late, and growing boys need sleep to get big and strong."

As she settled in beside him, Theo snuggled close, his small body seeking the warmth and comfort of her presence. "Mama Hazel, will you tell me a bedtime story?" Theo asked, his eyes filled with anticipation. Hazel smiled, her heart swelling with love for the sweet boy who had captured her heart. She began to weave a tale of magical adventures and brave heroes, her voice soft and soothing in the quiet of the night. As the story unfolded, Theo's eyelids grew heavy, his breathing slowing into the steady rhythm of sleep. Hazel watched over him, her hand resting on his back, feeling the gentle rise and fall of his chest with each breath.

Storytime is officially over. Saben, bedtime." Saben pouted. "Aww, but—" "No buts, young man," Saben said scooping him up into his arms. "Mommy's dignity is at stake." Benedict still chuckling kissed her on the forehead. "I will put him to bed tonight." Saben beamed. "Yay! Daddy reads the best bedtime stories."

I was laying face up on my bed reading James Patterson's Along Came a Spider, when my dad opened the door till its limits. He has been doing this for the past few weeks in the hopes of catching me raping a nun one day, I think. 'Hey dad'. I croaked out. 'Zayn, shouldn't you be asleep?' 'I guess I should but I did that all day so I'm kind of spent'. He coughed awkwardly and I realized my mistake.
