He sat on the edge of the bed and kissed the top of her head. “My princess... always smelling wonderful.” He ran a hand through her hair. “What story would you like tonight?” Luna’s face lit up. The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear. Edgar picked up the book and read it slowly, changing his voice for each character, just as he always did. When he finished, he closed the book, said a prayer with her, kissed her forehead again, and tucked the blanket around her. “Sleep well, my princess.”

"Why not?" "Fine. You can't ground me though. I'm too old." "We'll see." Alec rolled his eyes. "Well then, Dad," he emphasized the title, "you better have a good bedtime story for me if either of us are going to get any sleep tonight." "Oh yeah, let me tell you about Keven and the cat. You'll love this one."

Micah cracked one eye open and grumbled, “Where’s my bedtime story?” Adrian scooped him up, kissed his sandy hair. “I’ll tell you one.” Zaya reached for me, sleepy and small and safe. I carried her inside, her head tucked under my chin — her soft breaths a promise that the future could be gentle, if we let it. We lay curled together in that tiny beachside cabana, the windows cracked open to let in the hush of the waves. Adrian’s voice drifted through the dark, telling the children about two wolves and two sisters and the lie that became a truth that saved them all.

"Can we put Aiden to bed?" Evan requested from Lily and Lucas. "Does he still listen to bedtime stories?" Shantelle asked. "Does he want a glass of milk and a cookie before going to bed?" "Oh, I love bedtime stories!" Aiden responded with enthusiasm. Lily nearly coughed out blood at his son's answer because Aiden graduated relatively early from bedtime stories. At six, he was already learning basic coding for kids. Bedtime stories bore him, but he wanted to hear one from Lucas' mother.

She said in suggestion. Herzl nods and gets up from the couch. Lisa follows him to his bedroom, where he gets to change into his pajamas. Then they sit down on his bed and Lisa begins to tuck him in. As she does, she asks. “Do you want me to tell you a bedtime story?” “Yes, please…" Herzl uttered, his eyes already beginning to droop as he lay comfortably on his bed. Lisa thinks for a moment before replying. “I'll tell you the story of the three little pigs.” She enounced. Herzl's eyes light up, and he gives a sleepy grin.

I whispered with a loving smile, “Which story would you like tonight?” Mike’s face lit up with excitement, his tiny hands reaching for his favorite book. “The one about the brave little wolf, Mumma!” I chuckled as I opened the book, a captivating story about a young wolf’s rand adventure. By the time I reached the part where the little wolf found solace under the silvery glow of the moon, my son was already fast asleep.

His lips are still tilted in that wicked little smile. That night, Jabari and Amara refuse to close their eyes on the furs unless my voice tells them a bedtime tale.
