Kiara The rain had come the night before, after Ryden had left me, not the gentle, whispering kind, but the relentless, pounding sort that drowned out all other sounds. It hammered against the slate rooftops of the palace, cascaded down its pale limestone walls in shimmering sheets, and pooled in the ornamental gardens below, turning the crushed quartz pathways into glistening silver veins. By dawn, the skies had emptied themselves, leaving behind a world washed clean, the air crisp with the scent of rain-soaked lavender and wet stone.

She looked around the room but couldn't find him. “ Braaaaaa” Thunder strikes startling Lena, she closed her mouth with her hand in shock to see the downpour tripled, raining heavily. Lena turned back to the files on the laptop and continued. The noise from the breeze, rain drops and sound on the window acts as a forn of distractions to Lena but she placed her focus on the laptop and in an hour she was done. She looked out the window and the rain was still pouring heavily, thunder and heavy storm.“ I hope it stops fast so I can go home!”

In his logic, as long as he remained silent tonight, I would still appear in the kitchen tomorrow morning to prepare his iced black coffee, and pretend tonight's humiliation had never happened. He didn't realise that some things, once broken, are no longer worth repairing. Listening to the rain outside, I felt a sense of unprecedented tranquillity.

He slowly put me down then grab a towel in locker. “Thanks,” I murmured. He look down on me and just nod. I wiped the droplets of rain on my arms. From here, I could here the loud pouring of rain. The rain fell down constantly like an endless bucket of water being poured down from the heavens. It’s a relief that we finished our shooting before it rained. “Can I give you a ride?” Rain falls like it means to wash us away, like it means to keep hammering until we smudge like a Monet masterpiece. I watched how the droplets of rain run down on the window shield, racing from one another.

“Why are you texting me and driving!!! Text me when you get to where you are going.” I step into the shower and let the hot water and music work the days stress and worry away. I wash my hair with my rose shampoo and apply conditioner before I start washing my body. While I absently wash my body, my mind wonders to a certain sexy man and his drool worthy abs. Just before this little daydream starts getting good, I hear a noise that is out of place in my empty home. I open my eyes to see a dark figure on the other side of the glass walls.

he said "I'll pass" "I insist" "You can make me listen to it but you can't make me develop interest in it" he asserted. I felt my strength draining away from the not-so-long conversation and didn't want to argue further so I threw my hands up in surrender. Let's save the argument for another day, I thought, then I caught myself in mid-thought. Another day? Was I subconsciously wishing to see this Tim again? I scoffed at my thoughts. The rain had stopped then and the perfect curvature of the rainbow cast over the evening sky.

"Celeste, listen. Don't go inside. Wait for me there outside. I'll come to you. Do not go inside, hm? Just wait for me instead." Instead of replying, I ended the call and got out of the car without any thought. The rain poured heavily on me, along with the freezing wind. I walked straight towards the gate but automatically stopped when I realized what I was about to do. Suddenly, fear completely overtook me. I ended up sitting on the pavement, quietly crying, almost feeling my heart being torn apart.

The rain stopped, and the raindrops made the ground shiny. The soil became wet and fertile under the soft light of the moon. The trees in the forest, which had survived the storm, swayed gracefully in the gentle breeze, dancing together. After the rainclouds went away, the thick forest, once covered in darkness from the rain, was now dark again. The black colors blended with the shapes of the tall trees. In this dark scene, a quiet feeling filled the forest, interrupted only by the spooky sound of an owl hooting, like a musician playing a song in the silent night.
