He flashed his pearly whites at the audience and then with a deep breath, he resumed. "After love and fear, there’s pride; After tears, the night; After all the words are gone, A chair with just one light. After memories, the dream That you will come home safe; After sleep, another day Of waiting for my life. After hope, the happiness Of thinking of your love; After moments of despair A stone no thought can move. After all the sacrifice, The hunger and the pain,

The dawn that followed the divine visitation did not arrive with a sudden burst of light, but rather as a slow, bleeding gray that gradually melted the starlight from the sky. The spectacular, otherworldly glow of the Gods and Goddesses had vanished back into the ether, leaving the Crystal Courtyard bare, cold, and profoundly altered. The physical traces of their descent were everywhere—the flagstones were scorched with intricate, glittering patterns of silver ash, and the air still carried the heavy, static charge of raw cosmic alignment. The thousands of paper lanterns had finally fallen, their paper frames crumpled against the snow-dusted ground like the discarded husks of giant moths.

My breath catches. The glow begins to fade into the corner of the room, dissolving into tiny specks of soft light. Its last words reach me quietly. “Reward: peaceful life.”

The hall was nearly gone now, only shards of stone and endless light. I fell to one knee, gasping, the world spinning with smoke and radiance. Wolves around me were crying, laughing, kneeling. Some held each other; others simply stared upward as the ceiling gave way to the night. And through the open roof, the Moon burned, vast, alive, a perfect white flame above the world. I bowed my head. “It’s over,” I whispered. Then, softer, “Or just beginning.” The light consumed everything.

The melody was full of hope and inspiration, and the rhythm fit in surprisingly well with the words of the poem. “In the stillness of the night, In the distance, there’s a light.
