The hall was nearly gone now, only shards of stone and endless light.
I fell to one knee, gasping, the world spinning with smoke and radiance.
Wolves around me were crying, laughing, kneeling. Some held each other; others simply stared upward as the ceiling gave way to the night.
And through the open roof, the Moon burned, vast, alive, a perfect white flame above the world.
I bowed my head.
