Chasing the Huntress
I said, crudely crossing my arms and keeping calm.
She sighed once more and left. I returned to the file and flipped through it, killing time until the irritating woman returned.
“Here,” the secretary said and handed me a small brown paper packet.
I squeezed it between my fingers before opening it. Something was inside. When I lifted the envelope lip, I looked and found a pendant and a ring. They weren’t particularly special-looking, but they were both made of gold and delicate. The charm on the necklace featured a red stone in the center and a beautifully detailed engraving of the letter “R” on the back, while the ring had a small matching “R,” but more akin to a crest.
