The city glow hit the planes of his jaw, making him look like he’d been carved out of the night itself. “Call me Midnight,” he said. His voice was low, carrying a weight that made her skin prickle. “And I know exactly who you are, Lila. I know you touch yourself every night. I know you lie here imagining a stranger who comes in and tells you what to do. I know what you crave when nobody is looking.” He leaned against the wall, his gaze dropping from her face to the glistening toy still inside her. His eyes didn’t waver. This is power older than any pack—” Charlie tried to step back and promptly fell sideways, legs going everywhere. Rivener darted to her side and caught her before she faceplanted into a bush. “Easy. You’re okay.” Charlie made a frantic chiming sound. (Translation: I AM NOT OKAY.)

“And let me guess. This all took place at midnight and that is why midnight is significant.” He claps his hands together as he laughs with amusement. “Exactly. Midnight is such a special time, though they claim there’s a different hour for witching. No, midnight is perfect, especially for us. You’ll know soon enough.” I swallow back the bile shooting into my throat. “You aren’t done showing me the rest of my lives, aren’t you?” As soon as he calms, he nods in agreement. “Oh, yes, Valeria. I’m going to show you everything and then you won’t see your dear fated mate the same way ever again. This life, you will be mine.”

His lips curled. “Now you've revealed your true intentions, we’ll see who would end up missing; watch your back Ariel. And stop calling me that.” Azariel warned. “Stop calling you what? You mean Aza? Aza, aza, aza.” Ariel called out intentionally, irking Azariel. Ignored them both as I broke into the wooden shack. Kaiza was seated on the bare floor, with her eyes closed and her leg crossed. Her hands were also raised up like she was meditating, her long, black hair floated with a blue hue encasing it.

As she slipped beneath the covers of her bed, the warmth of the blankets enveloping her like a comforting embrace, Aqua closed her eyes and let out a long, weary sigh. The events of the day weighed heavily on her mind, but she refused to let them consume her completely. Tonight, she would rest, allowing her body and soul to find solace in the embrace of sleep. With one final thought of gratitude towards her aunt for her unwavering support, Aqua surrendered to the darkness, allowing its gentle embrace to carry her away from the tempest of her thoughts and into the peacef
