Iris's POV
“I’ll show you why they call me the beast Lycan.” His deep, cold voice resonated.
I could see fear flash in my father's eyes as he gritted his teeth and stared at me with hate-filled eyes.
Lucian still held my father's hand, and from the expression on his face, he was in pain. The sound of bones cracking filled the place, and my father screeched in pain.
“Argggh!” He yelped as he staggered.
Mum rushed out of the house with worry in her eyes. She stared in confusion at the scene before her.
“You hit my future wife with those hands. Today, I’ll make sure you don't get to use them for a long time.” He said, his voice dripping with malicious intent.
I watched as he walked towards my father, noting how long his legs were.
“Azariel,” Lucian called out, and I wondered who he was referring to.
Someone stepped out of the frontseat of the car; his driver. He gave off an eerie vibe, as a strong aura surrounded him. Half of his face was covered with his hair. He had cold, silvery eyes that seemed to stare into one's soul.
“Yes, my lord.” He answered as he bowed with one knee before Lucian.
“Whip him.” He ordered.
Huh? Whip who?
My eyes widened in shock as my eyes darted from my father to Lucian.
“As you wish, my lord.” Azariel stood, giving a deep bow to Lucian before pulling my father up roughly.
“Iris, wha…wha…what is going on?” My mother stuttered as she walked towards me.
“Who are they?” She asked.
I tore my gaze away from my father and stared at my mother.
“You don't even know the person I’m getting married to.” I let out a dry laugh despite the situation.
“I'm sorry.” She muttered, tears welling up in her eyes as she lowered her gaze.
Guilt gnawed at me as I stared at her pitiful figure. I shouldn't have said that; it wasn't her fault. There was nothing she could do. If she such as much opposed, she’d be as good as dead.
I wondered how life would have been if my mother were much stronger, if she could speak up more. There wouldn't be much difference, as my father would still end up beating her twice as much.
“I'm sorry,” I muttered as I pulled her into a hug.
“I'm the one who should apologise. If…if I weren't this weak, I should have run away with you to another pack. And…and we’d have a better life.” She sniffed. “Then you wouldn't have to marry the beast king.”
I hugged her tightly, ignoring whatever was going on with my father. It warmed my heart that my mother had such thoughts for us.
“He is the beast king, right?” My mother asked as we broke the hug, and I nodded.
I turned to face them, and Azariel held a horse whip. I looked at my father, who was now sprawled on the ground, shaking.
I watched as Azariel raised the whip in a bid to hit my father.
“Wait,” Lucian commanded, and his hands came to a halt.
He turned to face me, I couldn't see his face but I could feel his eyes boring into me. He walked with long strides towards me, and stared down on my clothes.
I shifted uncomfortably and looked down on my clothes wondering what was wrong with it. I was dressed in a big shirt and trousers, to makey escape easier.
I felt my mother pull me closer, and I held onto her for comfort.
“Don't worry, mother-in-law, I won't hurt her.” He uttered, which made me raise my brows.
Then he got closer and raised his hands to my shirt, which he partially tore off. My eyes widened as it happened in a flash.
My shoulders were exposed, revealing scars from my father's whip, which were fading. He traced his cold fingers from my shoulders to my back, which made me wince. There were still some fresh bruises which were yet to heal.
“Nm, I thought as much.” His voice grew several degrees colder.
“Azariel, strip him.”
I watched in shock as his driver, Azariel, tore off my father's clothe,s leaving him in only his briefs.
“Let me goo!” My father yelled as he tried to fight back, but his efforts were futile; Azariel was very much stronger.
Azariel didn't look like an alpha; in fact, he didn't even have the aura. But there was something about him, otherworldly in a way I couldn't explain.
My father's scream filled the place as Azariel lashed him. His back was covered with red stripes, which I had become accustomed to seeing on my body.
I should be crying, I should be yelling at Lucian to stop. But instead, I felt satisfied; I felt this joyful feeling as I watched him being lashed.
I covered my mouth in shock at the way I felt when I saw my father getting hit. I looked at my mother, and I could swear I saw a satisfied expression on her face.
“Enough. Though I'm not satisfied, I’ve got things to do.” He said, and Azariel withdrew the whip.
Then he walked and bent in front of my father, who lay on the ground, groaning in pain.
“I hope you’ve learnt never to lay a hand on what’s mine. The moment you agreed to the marriage, you lost all right to touch her.” He voiced before standing.
“Let's go.” He paused where I stood with my mother.
“Please, let me say goodbye,” I begged.
He gave me a long stare, watching as I whispered words to my mother. Giving my mother one last look, I finally left with Lucian.
On getting to the car, another car drove past us, halting. Then someone stepped out, it was Jacob.
I felt everything stop as my heart ached. My feet felt rooted to the ground, and I couldn't move. I saw the way he stared back and forth from Lucian to me in confusion. Before I could do anything, a hand wrapped around my waist and carried me up.
It was Lucian, he stared at me with something flickering in his eyes. Then he slowly leaned in.
“You're not allowed to look at other men like that except from me.” He whispered.
Iris's POV I gulped as I stood with my legs rooted to the ground, unable to take a step forward. Lucian walked calmly, his cold footsteps echoing slightly as his shoes hit the cobbled floor. He towered above me, his eyes looked more cold than ever. He looked...really mad. The room grew much colder that I couldn't help but shiver.I bit my lips hard to stop myself it from quivering. It was like as he entered, the temperature of the room reduced to an abnormal level like it was winter. My lips parted but no words came out. No matter how tough I tried to be, it appeared that I was still scared of him either ways and it pissed me off. Mustering every bit of courage, I clenched my fists and looked up at him, our gaze locking.Looking into those cold, icy, blue eyes my heart skipped a bit which was as a result of both fear and admiration of how beautiful they were."I didn't mean to come here. I lost my way, thinking this was were I was looking for." The lie slipped out smoothly.I gulped
Iris's POV The games were over, and finally, I was a council member. I got into the department of my choice, the Investigation team. As expected, Darius and Jameson passed and were also in the same department as me.Things were going quite well, I was able to balance my council life with my life as the Luna. It was very convenient for me as Lucian wasn't around often.I felt unsettled as I thought of the little girl, Reya, whom I met during the physical examination. She had suddenly gone missing after we were taken back to the council. How she disappeared, I just couldn't fathom.I had been having sleepless nights, trying to find her, but it was like she disappeared into thin air. Today was a free day for me, and I had enough time to roam the mansion as I pleased. Not to forget, Rhea had also joined me in the council, and we worked on most cases together alongside Darius and Jameson.Samantha and Eloise on the other hand, had decided to pursue their college dreams as earlier planned
Iris's POV I didn't know why I always connected anything that had to do with blue to Lucian. I smiled at the girl whose eyes brightened on talking about her brother's blue eyes, which were the only thing she remembered."Don't worry, I'll find him. I promise you." I said, although I didn't even know how, "But for now, you'll have to come with me. I'll take you to the officials, so you'll be in good hands till you remember something." "No, no. I don't want to, I want to stay with you." Her lips quivered.I sighed, if she stayed with me, she'll see things that might not be good for a child her age."I'm sorry Reya, but I don't want you to get hurt. Mean things would go on soon, and it isn't good for little girls." I tried to explain.Though she was reluctant, I still carried her up and headed towards where the officials where."What's up Vincent?" Jameson yelled."I'll be back." I replied. But on getting there, the officials and the plane were gone. I couldn't be more frustrated. I we
Iris's POV We were divided into three groups, each with thirty people, each with its respective group leaders and assistants. Jameson and I were lucky to be in the same group, and of course, Darius, the persistent shadow, was also with us. The physical exams involved games, and our skills would be tested. We were each given a sword, a gun, an arrow and a spear."Remember, no matter what you do, make sure to never kill your opponent. Injuring them severely is allowed, but they mustn't die. If you kill am opponent, you'd be killed that exact way. You are being watched, so be careful." Hector warned. The first game we were going to play was track the treasure. There were three groups, and three treasures. If one group was able able to get all three treasures, then the other groups would be automatically evicted. If two of the groups were able to get them, the group without none would be evicted and vice versa."Are they planning to kill us or something?" Jameson asked as he watched som
Lucian's POV When I was younger, I remembered the few times and what had to occur before I fell asleep, as falling asleep was very rare. My father had tried all he could, trying to find a solution, but to no avail. He did bad things, just to find a solution, but none of them worked. He always thought he did a good job hiding them, but I was Lucian, and it wasn't long before I figured it out.Well, one of the things that could make me fall asleep was going berserk, yes. Anytime I went berserk, I would, or might, sleep for some minutes to an hour. Like now, I slept. I opened my eyes, and the first thing I saw was Konstantin, sniffing around me like some dog."You're awake, I thought you died. I was sniffing to know my next step." He chuckled before shifting back and relaxing on a cane chair close to my bed.I slowly sit up, looking around. My eyes met with the family's black and grey colour of things, I was in my room. My head ached as I recalled the events.I remembered going with Ko
Iris's POVI sat amidst the bag of vegetables as the truck was in motion. My head gently swayed side to side as I enjoyed the country music Samantha's aunt, Cherry, was playing as she drove."You seem to like the songs." She chuckled."Ah, yes. It's a great way to start your day." I replied. The plans had changed; I no longer needed to sneak out in fear of the guards or anything. All I had to do was get ready and enter the vegetable truck. No one suspected anything, my plans were going fine, and I hadn't been seeing Lucian, which was good luck for me.Today was for the physical exams, and I had improved my sword skills and even learnt more skills from Rhea. She even taught me how to shoot a gun, which I didn't find quite surprising as she had a knack for these things. She would be joining me, but she decided to figure out some things first, which I understood."I know you'll ace it. Success." Aunt Cherry smiled, waving at me, which I returned.I stood by the roadside till her truck wa
