The Alaskan coast appeared on the horizon after three weeks at sea. The water grew colder, the sky grew darker, and the days grew shorter. Elif had never experienced a northern winter before. The darkness pressed against her, heavy and suffocating, making her feel small and insignificant. But the Alaskans who met them at the dock did not seem bothered by the lack of sun. They moved through the twilight with easy confidence, their faces weathered by generations of surviving in this harsh land. Nukka was waiting for them on the shore, her silver hair bright against the gray sky. She embraced Elif warmly, then stepped back to look at Nisan.

Alaska was just like a medieval - modern town. It had the characteristics of what made up a city, with schools, electricity and most social amenities present in the town, but then the presence of witches, wizards werewolves and vampires, as well as the numerous rituals and happenings that went on in Alaska made it more medieval and going ages back in time. He had heard so many rumors too, about the kind of clothing they wore, how they behaved, the distribution and characterization of pack houses, the distinct clans far and near, as well as the insane blood rituals that happened over there, and everything just felt surreal.

Elle goes stiff against me; she does nothing for a long second until eventually she nods but she looks down at her lap and starts rubbing over her stomach again. “For two of us, not an entire Pack.” Elle says slowly. “I have no idea what is in Alaska; it was just a place I picked up out of nowhere. It could be a barren, irradiated landscape for all I know.” Elle’s right, there are no guarantees and even if there were, it's not like we can just pack up everyone and start walking. We still have pups out there in the world; I can’t just forget about them and make the parents walk to Alaska.
