He is the leader of the men I had told to find the people who had escaped within the next twenty-four hours. They take care of the dungeon and watch the prisoners. That is their duty. I walk into the dungeon, and the putrid smell and wailing do not faze me at all.

He didn't have to tell me he was a private investigator before I knew it. Everything about him screamed about his profession and my thoughts were confirmed when Jace named him. “Hi," I waved at him. He acknowledged me with a nod and then gave me a two finger salute. “And that guy over there,” Jace said, his voice lowering slightly, “is Alan. He’s… inside Dominic’s company, our mole.”
