Her eyes swept across the screens. “They’re not allies.” Rafael Navarro looked up from the tactical display. “Then what are they?” Aurora’s voice was ice. “Predators.” She stepped up to the Atlas command console. “And predators eventually turn on each other.” At that moment, alarms erupted across the room.

Too many angles, too many edges, like reality itself couldn’t decide what it was looking at. But one thing remained constant. Its presence. Heavy. Absolute. Final.
