We’ve been hiding out here and I cant even close my eyes at night because I feel like Octavious is hovering over me. I splashed my face with the cold water before I took a look at myself in the rusted mirror as I glanced over my tired features. I looked exhausted and basically dead. My eyes were sunken in and there were dark circles around my eyes as though someone had given me two black eyes. My skin had lost its glow and I felt like I was losing my mind.

I hadn't even noticed that he had single-handedly taken out the entire group that had once surrounded me. We continued to battle our way through the rows of wolves that threw themselves our way. The stench of rogue wolves stung as it continued to worm its way into my nose. I wonder just how many rogues there are in the world? I was certainly shocked at the amount that showed today.

The huge one said, causing them to groan in satisfaction. "Which others……" I murmured more to myself as they dragged me towards the wood. "Ouch!....." I whimpered as my skin got turned by the edge of the wood. Moving deeper, I started hearing small voices, this is a small pack more like a forbidding pack because they were small in size, and the people there all looked tattered and malnourished. Glancing around as I stare at the faces of the people gathering there, they gaze at me with pity and pain.

He couldn't believe the overwhelming exhaustion he was experiencing. As he opened his eyes once more, he peered out of the front window, observing the bustling flow of people entering and exiting the store. Among the crowd, there were individuals dressed in professional attire, young mothers with their toddlers, an elderly lady leaning on a cane, and a couple locked in a tender embrace, sharing occasional kisses. Joe averted his gaze.

Even if it was just such small scratches? Sighing, I let my gaze wander over the people. They all looked so normal. Most wore simple casual clothes, a few were even there in suits or evening dresses. If I ran into these people on the street, I probably wouldn't even have a second look at them. They all looked so ... average, normal, nothing out of the ordinary. It was all the more incomprehensible to me that they let themselves be attracted by such a carnage.

I'm at the edge of the cart so I can see our surroundings. I glance around to see if there is any face I can recognize, but all the faces are mutilated by grief and pain which makes them unrecognizable. The people don't look back at me or even utter a word. Some are asleep, or dead. The ones I suspect are dead are too still, they don't move; their chest doesn't rise and fall to show they are breathing.

“And what do you mean by that? We both know that's untrue.” The people around her turned to face me, their masks melting into the fog and their faces showing— they were all me. Various iterations, various times. Some had weapons still wet with blood, while others had scars. While some looked at me with icy coldness, others had tears streaming down their cheeks. They talked one by one. "We were all you once." "We all tried to fight it." "We all lost." Inside me, a horrible dread curled. "I don’t understand," I stutteringly said. "What is this?"

I frowned. “In my social circle, almost everyone wears smiling masks. Why? Because if they don’t, it will show faces with tears or wrinkles in their foreheads.” He shook his head. “Few people want to deal with that. Even if we can find people who don’t mind dealing with that, it is just on the surface.”

I look at my brothers, all of who wear grim miserable faces as we look at the ruins of the mansion that was once beautiful and huge. “what have we done?”
